I use YouTube a lot but the AI created stories have become a nuisance.

I try to not click on any of them. I see a story by Rachel Maddow or Andrew Weisman and they have their voices but there is a little notice in the corner - "altered or synthetic content".

They tell lies that you would like to believe. But it is all fake. And it is not easy to distinguish.

There should be a law.

1. Videos that are really by Maddow or other well-known people will include their or their network's logo.

For example, geniune Maddow videos always have the MS NOW logo. Facebook really is turning into a cesspool of AI slop.

They have their faces and their voices but it is fake. If they gave factual reporting, it would not be so bad, but they will say stuff like "Kash Patel arrested!" or Pam Bondi is forced in front of a judge, and stuff that you know is not true, because nobody else has mentioned it.

2. AGREE. There is WAY too much AI slop on YouTube

It's so hard to sift through the AI slop to find genuine content. And the snake oil adverts are ridiculous too. Ugh. The platform is ruined.

11. Yep, AI is ruining almost anything

of value these days and YouTube is one platform that has been affected profoundly.

I still like YouTube for instructional or unbox videos. Those can be so helpful, but I find most news or political videos to be annoying, redundant, and often misleading like tabloid newspapers.

4. If you have a YouTube account, you can click on the three dots on the lower right and select "Don't recommend channel".

And there is a whack-a-mole effect. For every AI music channel I mark as don't recommend, there are countless more waiting to replace it. But I do get a feeling of satisfaction every time I click the Don't recommend option.
