Should Trump be impeached for getting us into a war that nobody wanted?

And he told no one in Congress about it.

Americans died in his war of choice.

The American people paid higher prices for gasoline and other products because of Mr Trump's illegal war.

Then he refused to follow the law of the War Powers Act, in getting Congressional approval after 60 days.

If they plan on impeaching him once they get back in power, this is as good a reason as any. But there are no shortages of possible impeachable charges.

But they'd be better off impeaching the Secretary of War. I think Pete might actually lose in the senate as would RFK.

Just pointing out that they have not done so in 84 years.

He should still be impeached, but my post describes what his likely defense would be.

Congress wouldn’t have to prove he violated the WPA, they could just go after him for harm he did to the country’s reputation and economy.

Congress can impeach for any reason.

And impound his assets.
This misadventure was not congressionally funded or approved.

An Adelson bug in his ear is not a justifiable reason.

Deciding on a path and then inventing the facts to go to war is not a justifiable strategy.

Grabbing resources is not an ethical reason.

Power grab and economic boost are insufficient reasons.

The WHY needs justification.

He did notify Congress within 48 hours as the WPA requires, and is attempting to skirt that law by ceasing attacks on Iran before the 60 day window passed, even though troops are still deployed.

My guess is he will get a “deal” and withdraw troops (at least out of the strait and into international waters) before the WPA’s 30 day withdrawal window closes at the end of May.

I’m sure Trump is acutely aware that the Iran war will be among the articles of impeachment put forth by the new Democratic Congress.

He has been impeached twice already to literally no effect.

There is no benefit to spending the time, energy and political capital doing it again if Ds get any power in congress - they have SO much more they have to address.

What does need to happen is have whatever of the countless criminal charges that could be made against him brought up and pursued if they can get him out of the white house.

We know he will NOT be removed. Spending a ton on time on that will be fruitless both practically and politically.

IMO, we should hold some hearins to keep his corruption and lawlessness in the public eye, but our efforts should be proposing actual policies that the American people want, even if we know they will not get passed. We need to show voters what our vision is.
