Mast is known for his always-visible leg prosthetics which, credit where credit is due, he earned the hard way in Afghanistan- and for posing as a champion of Everglades restoration while twiddling his thumbs on climate change and the destruction of the EPA and environmental regulation.

As a civilian, Mast volunteered in a non-combat role with the IDF in 2015. He was given an IDF uniform in appreciation. He wore that uniform to Congress after the October 7 attack by Hamas. AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups have supported Mast with over $700,000 in political donations. Initially elected in 2016, Mast is currently serving his fifth term in office and has ascended to the crucial post of Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He has used his position to help prevent enforcement of the War Powers Act in the War on Iran.

1. I think that wearing another country's uniform

While serving in Congress pretty much disqualifies you from holding office

Regardless of any other circumstance, your oath is to the us constitution

2. I am not greatly concerned about the photo op optics.

I know Mast would claim that he wore the uniform as a display of solidarity. The problem is the one you mention- his oath is to the constitution and his first loyalty needs to be to his constituents and his country. The War in Iran was sold to Trump by Netanyahu to serve his own purposes and has been harmful to American interests from day one. Mast is one of the few people in a position to hold the administration accountable and prevent further damage but appears to have discarded his loyalty to both the constitution and the American people.
