You can even be the most powerful man in the world, but when a 54 Italian woman raises her little finger and gestures like that, you definitely have to listen to her 🤣

Second your motion for him to go horizontal. Sooner would be better than later.

(88 posts)She's a horrible person and her ideology is fascism. She's one of the far right leaders in Europe who's recently come to power. It's gross to see these people leading any country let alone in the hotbed and the cradle where it all began - Italy.

The strange thing is, she SHOULD be Trump's greatest defender. I'm looking at her political positions on her Wikipedia page...the only substantive difference between Giorgia Meloni and Benito Mussolini is Meloni wears lipstick. You know you're screwed when the co-founder of Italy's current fascist party turns on you.

A right-wing Italian paper went after Trump with a vulgar name amid his spat with the country's prime minister.

"Sorry to say it, but I can't find, and perhaps there isn't, another way to say it," a translation of the Italian article from the Libero Quotidiano reads. "Donald Trump is an a."
The article uses the Italian term "coglione," even using it in the headline, as it blasted Trump for ruining progress towards a friendly relationship with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni by telling an Italian news network that she "begged" him for a photo during the G7 summit. Meloni denied the account and accused Trump of making it up in a fierce response that tore into him.
"Only an a could ruin everything with a lie so huge as to become ridiculous," the article read. "Why say such nonsense? The answer can only be found in the definition of the word 'a' which has entered the popular jargon of the Italian language: an inept, stupid person who acts with little intelligence."
Trump stood by his claim that Meloni was a "big fan" of his in comments to NBC News on Friday. Meanwhile, Meloni was cheered on across the world, even called "fabulous," for firing back at Trump.
Although the article attacks "the inadequacy of the American president," it does strike a sympathetic tone by admitting, "it is not the case to declare war on America," and "we do not deny it, we too had placed many hopes" in Trump.

Two months later, the American president, already short on friends, made matters vastly worse. In fact, The New York Times reported, It looks as if the Italian prime ministers teetering relationship with President Trump may have just fallen off a cliff. From the article:
After the president told an Italian journalist on Thursday that Ms. Meloni had begged him to take a photo together at the Group of 7 summit meeting in France this week, according to an English-language transcript shared by the TV reporter, Ms. Meloni called Mr. Trumps statements totally invented.
Italy and I never beg, she proclaimed in a video posted on social media.
Melonis frustration appeared palpable in the video. She talked about being appalled by Trumps fabricated claims. I dont know why the president of the United States behaves like this with his own allies, the prime minister added.
Meloni's message to Trump was direct. Allies deserve respect. If Trump showed half as much toughness toward Americaâs adversaries as he does toward democratic partners, the West would be stronger. âI and Italy never begâ is the line that people will remember.

True to form, the Republican did what he nearly always does: He doubled and tripled down on the dubious claims that generated the international incident in the first place. On Saturday morning, by way of his social media platform, Trump not only repeated his underlying claim, insisting that Meloni asked, over and over, for a picture with me during the G-7 summit, but he even concocted a narrative to support his story.
To hear the American president tell it, Meloni is doing poorly politically because Italians wanted her to do more to support the U.S. war in Iran. This, according to his weird version of events, is why she tried to cozy up to Trump in France, in order to get her numbers up.....
It was around this time that Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani canceled a planned visit to the United States, and other Italian officials reportedly scrapped plans to attend U.S. Independence Day celebrations scheduled in Rome.
It is unclear whether out of intent or ineptitude [Trump] is wrecking the historic relations between the United States and Europe, Giovanbattista Fazzolari, undersecretary to the prime ministers office, said in a statement.
With his inappropriate outbursts, he has managed no easy feat, to make the United States unpopular across the entire European continent, damaging not only Europe but above all the United States, Fazzolari added.....
Its a point that appears to have eluded the Republican, as he continues to alienate, offend, insult and exasperate countries that have been aligned with the United States for generations.
