Pentagon chief lashes out at NATO allies and announces a review of US forces in Europe
By LORNE COOK
Updated 3:50 AM CDT, June 18, 2026

...

“This will be a real review. It will be designed to ensure that NATO is moving fast and irreversibly toward Europe leading, stepping up to take primary responsibility for the defense of Europe,” he told his NATO counterparts in Brussels.

Hegseth lambasted European allies for failing to provide U.S. forces access to bases in Europe to launch attacks on Iran, calling it “shameful.”

Taking the microphone at the top of the meeting, Hegseth also railed against migration and gender equality policies in Europe, in remarks reminiscent to those of Vice President JD Vance in February last year that angered many Europeans.

“Instead of tanks and fighters and air defenses, the focus has been on gender equity and climate change and defense austerity. Europe’s borders flew wide open, welfare states expanded, defense budgets cratered. Along with Europe’s belief in itself and its civilization,” Hegseth said.

Hegseth’s comments largely mischaracterized European policies today. On defense, European allies and Canada have launched an unprecedented effort to boost defense spending and expand their armed forces. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte noted on Thursday that they spent $90 billion more on defense last year, a 20% increase over 2024. And while Europe accepted large numbers of migrants and asylum seekers more than a decade ago, most countries have tightened their borders since.

... of an obnoxious pig can this worthless meatsock be?

Ladies and gentlemen, it's not just the fate of America hanging by a frog hair, it's the entire fucking planet! And the shit-brained bad boys in his backstage entourage WANT the end of the world as we know it! In their cult-addled minds – if we dare to call their kaleidoscopes of bullshit minds – they can just bellow, "BEAM ME UP!" and their imaginary Sky Daddy will welcome them to a Garden of Heavenly Delights that looks strangely like the set of The Shopping Channel as seen by Hieronymus Bosch.

No shit, I really am . . . and I'll sign it and include my return address.

I'm sending him a big piece of white cloth on which will be embroidered: "Trump - Hegseth Battle Flag."

Yes, I am. My wife is a quilter, she has a LOT of fabric, I found a piece of white about 1 ft X 2 ft. Taking it to embroidery shop today.

If permitted, I'll send updates from federal prison.

'BDFJ's are going to destroy the world if we don't stop letting them think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Because they do think that, and we just cheer them on and worship them.

The fact that some of these brain dead idiots keep fooling everyone is a testament to our gullibility towards the 'Greek ideal', which has already been shown to be a delusion. Hell, more evil has come from those idiots than any 'ugly person' I have ever seen.

For all the tough guy talk, they know they lost a war to a much weaker opponent and are now a laughingstock. Like any impotent little boy, all they can do is lash out and blame others. Getting your butt kicked, begging for peace, throwing a tantrum after. This is what MAGA masculinity looks like.

No, he outright LIED. Either that, or he's just plain ignorant in matters he chooses to make the focus of his speech.

Take your pick. Either way, he is shameful and unqualified for the position to which Trump appointed him, approved by the Republican Senate.

…what this is really about: that terrible, awful European social-democratic domestic spending! This is the crap we hear daily from Maria Bartiromo, the WSJ op-ed page, et al—the “investing class”. Or as GW Bush put it, the “ownership society”: society ruled by the owners. These are the people who whine that someone, somewhere is getting a single dime they don’t “deserve”.

Of course, the reason these social programs are aimed at both the poor and the middle classes in Europe is to make them much harder to take away—by building politically powerful constituencies in their favor. This also produces strong societies: “Europe’s belief in itself and its civilization”, as Kegsbreath so sneeringly puts it.

Let’s lay it where we should; at this point in history, these people are just asking for it. Kegsbreath might want to open a couple of those history books to rediscover the not-so-pleasant things that happen when the political class abuses its citizens (particularly in Europe).

23. Outrageous gaslighting - "These allies, they put America's sons and daughters at risk" over Iran

In a fiery speech at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Hegseth lambasted European allies for failing to provide U.S. forces access to bases in Europe to launch attacks on Iran, calling it “shameful.”

“These allies, they put America’s sons and daughters, our sons and daughters, at risk by denying them the predictable access, basing and overflight that never should have been in question at all,” he said. The review would also assess whether the U.S. has full access and overflight “when we need it.”

The psychopaths Hegseth and Trump ordered a disastrous war that had nothing to do with NATO or mutual defence, and then claims its his allies who put Americans at risk. This is a toddler who will never take responsibility for his errors.

And the hypocrite said "sons and daughters", and then went on to criticise NATO countries for thinking about gender equity. While he stops American women being promoted, on the grounds that they're women.
