Georgia conservative radio host Shelly Wynter just announced he is endorsing Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff

When a leading conservative voice in Georgia is willing to cross party lines and support Jon Ossoff, it tells you something very important: Ossoff is building the kind of broad, bipartisan coalition Republicans should be terrified of.

Wynter said on Wednesday on his show: “I’m here to tell you live on the radio that I am Team Ossoff for the rest of the summer, and I will do everything I can possible on this show to get you re-elected.”

He added, speaking about Ossoff, “Everything you’re doing, everything you’ve done, I agree with. I have some minor disagreements on some smaller issues, but on the big things, I’m on your team.”

He's going to win reelection, and probably with an even larger margin than the first time. The momentum from that, plus his recent high profile is going to put him squarely in focus for a 2028 run.

I think he has a very good chance of winning the nomination.

He would always support Trump even after J6 rioters attacked the Capitol. Lately he has changed. He has become good friends with Ossoff over the last several months and has said on his show that the republicans have not done anything to make his life better over the last two years. I believe that there are many republicans feeling the same. Tonight on his show several callers attacked him for this endorsement. I worry about his safety now.

considering that other conservatives who opposed Trump like Charlie Sykes and Joe Walsh, got blackballed from radio and pivoted to YouTube and Substack.

WSB is owned by Cox Media Group, whose parent company is run by the descendants of James M. Cox, a former Democratic governor of Ohio. (Yet many of the Cox news/talk radio stations have conservative shows all day long and Fox News updates.)

I do wonder what broke it for him? So I searched it and got this....

Yesterday, Senator Jon Ossoff joined The Shelley Wynter Show on 95.5 WSB Radio, where he slammed his scandal-ridden opponent Mike Collins and earned the endorsement of Conservative Radio host Shelley Wynter – a former Derek Dooley supporter who, like many, is refusing to line up behind MAGA extremist Mike Collins and instead supporting Senator Ossoff’s re-election campaign.

For months, Republicans from Georgia and across the country have been slamming Collins, Donald Trump’s handpicked candidate, and highlighting his ethics scandals and record of bigotry as he makes himself terminally inseparable from Trump. A prominent Conservative 95.5 WSB radio host defecting from the Republican Party to Senator Ossoff is a huge blow to Mike Collins’ effort to unite his coalition.

“I’m here to tell you live on the radio that I am Team Ossoff for the rest of the summer, and I will do everything I can possible on this show to get you re-elected. I see re-elections as a job interview, and in my humble opinion, I’ve seen nothing from Senator Jon Ossoff that requires me to say you’re fired from the job. So you’ve got my support. I endorse you. I don’t know what that’s worth, but I strongly endorse you for re-election. Everything I’m hearing, everything you’re doing, everything you’ve done, I agree with. I think that every victorious trump endorsed candidate gives the Democratic Party nominee a weaker opponent.

Prayers to whatever powers you might appeal to that the felon is not about the of the rise of autocracy, but rather is the catalyst for a new new birth of Democracy worldwide and a new, new deal for the American people.

Just Imagine.....


... that the awfulness of Trumpism could help teach rising generations throughout the world the lesson the Founders tried to teach us 250 years ago - that democracy is a far better path than autocracy and oligarchy and very much worth fighting for; and how in Hungary, in Ukraine, and in our coming elections what we may we be seeing is a spark that brings us a “new birth of freedom” here and everywhere. I closed out the night by reading the Gettysburg Address, revisiting Lincoln’s powerful challenge to dedicate ourselves to “the great task remaining before us” -

that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth....


What if we could look back at this year, 2026, ten years from now, not as one where freedom was lost but where it was renewed, restored and regained momentum? Where governments “of the people, by the people, for the people” did not perish from the earth……

...Imagine if we were to win and Elon, and Putin, and Trump, and Orban, were to lose? Imagine……

I think this is the future we want. And thus we must start imagining it, and begin building a politics that makes it far more likely.

I don’t know what that politics looks like, exactly. I don’t know what this global pro-democracy movement’s rallying cry is going to be, what symbols will animate our fight or who will lead us. But we’ve seen early pieces of it in the weary but determined eyes of Zelensky, of the grace and courage of Maria Corina Machado, of the beauty of the new Syrian currency unveiled this week…..

of the brave women in Iran throwing off their head scarves and challenging one of the most oppressive regimes in modern history…..

Shelley Wynter is a Traditionalist and Conservative who desperately wants America to return to a time when morals, values, education and marriage were honored and cherished. He is not a Republican or a Democrat, and is listed as a “Swing Voter” in VoteBuilder. This is what he is most proud of . His heroes are Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Star Parker, Jack Kemp, and he has always loved and admired Donald Trump, way before he became President. His mother loves him, so she says, but she also does not know where his opinions come from, as she says “they certainly did not come from her”. He is a reformed sinner who goes to church on the big three days but knows all too well the power of prayer. Shelley is also a member of The Georgia Black Republican Council.


So a guy who has been a Trump fan long before that ride down the escalator prefers Ossoff over the Republican challenger? Did he not realize all this time Trump is FAR from someone who honors and cherishes "marriage" and "morals"? (But then again this is the same radio station that had Neal Boortz on for so many years.)

WSB also has a video of Wynter interviewing Keisha Lance Bottoms, Democratic nominee for governor and former mayor of Atlanta and adviser to Pres. Biden, as usual for right wing media, the title uses "Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate". Overall, I'd call Wynter's questioning skeptical but respectful (such as the question at 4:30 referencing Mississippi's improvements in education and 6:30 about extending tax cuts beyond teachers), and he's quite critical of the Republican candidate in contrast to how positively he speaks about Bottoms.

Wynter's interview with Sen. Ossoff is here. I did not know Ossoff had such a great reputation for constituent services all around the state!

Just sit down and talk with him for while. The Georgia Republicans have no candidate anywhere NEARLY as engaging, knowledgeable, intelligent or as informed as Jon is.
