Those were the numbers Trump inherited. $3.09 a gallon for gasoline at the pump and a 3% annual inflation rate as of January 2025. Actually, the numbers for inflation were 2.7% in Dec. 2024 and 2.8% in Feb. 2025.
I mention this because all the MAGA commentators on TV like to cherry pick the numbers from early 2022, right after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the exit from the Covid crisis to act like that's what the Orange Menace inherited.
For example, asshole Scott Jennings uses this all the time, and no one ever corrects him. As of today, Trump's average gasoline price at the pump is 90 cents more per gallon than when he took office and the inflation rate in higher by 1.2%
These are verifiable facts that should be shot back at Jennings every time he falsely claims that Trump has improved anything when it comes to prices.
