I am a German, living in Germany. But I follow the American nightmare closely. My question to you is: Do you think there will be any kind of repercussions after Trump is out of office? Will the American public or the justice demand any kind of reimbursements of the current administration. They are stealing tax money, use it on frivolities etc.
Or is your country just too big with too many people not caring one way or another?

(27,184 posts)They are all over the Epstein files and redacted.
Only cure is to kill "Citizens United" which turned "one man, one vote" into "One dollar, one vote"
And break up oligarch controlled medis
Maybe more, but it's structural, and the rich pull the wool.

My mood is angry, so my expectation is disappointment.

(17,573 posts)There were reforms after Richard Nixon resigned, and I think there will be far more done after the current administration is over. But it will take a lot of will and public support as well as at least two functioning political parties. We know now that it takes a great deal for the current Republican Party to show resistance to the lawless Donald Trump. The public has learned that the guardrails we thought we had in place only work if powerful people don't enable the worst offenses.
Republicans are in some instances pushing back, and many of our most pressing issues (concerns about data centers, inflation, and more) aren't partisan concerns.
On edit: I hear a lot of glum predictions, but we don't actually know what will happen. I do know this: There aren't any redeeming revelations on the way about Donald Trump. If anything, we'll find out even worse things about him.
In any event, I do believe there will be reforms.
