- Social Security: In the same year, undocumented workers alone contributed about **$25.7 billion** in Social Security payroll taxes.
- Medicare: Those payroll taxes also fund Medicare; the share going to Medicare is roughly one‑third of total Social‑Security payroll taxes, giving an estimated **$8–9 billion** per year (derived from the $25.7 billion Social‑Security figure)
