It seems clear to me that Netanyahu's current strategy is to force Trump back to a military solution to the jam he's gotten us in to by preventing a diplomatic solution from working. Israel has a lot of leverage here and I expect every bit to capitalized on. Having us "finish the job" brings nothing but up side for their agenda. So why wouldn't they push hard for it ? Looks to me like there's a high probability for success.
Am I being alarmist? Or is this a likely scenario?

(630 posts)Very similar to Russia in Afghanistan but with advanced drones that we don't yet have effective defenses for. So, worse.
And the whole new generation of war-hardened and tecu-savy terrorists that would come out of it. They'll be visiting us at intervals for the next few decades, no matter how the war comes out.
What a mess, huh?

(11,303 posts)If not Iran, somewhere else for sure.....The US military is the biggest public employer in the world. It needs to spread 247 propaganda constantly, so nobody questions its existence or expense. The goal of the DoD used to be to deter war and to protect the security of our country. Now, it is to defend the security of our country and sustain American influence abroad.

Exhausted of our "exceptionalism" - the older I get, the worse it becomes.

More aerial assaults? Sure. But the Dotard doesn't have the appetite for an actual invasion of a nation of 90 million Muslims, so no way.
