Southern Baptist church, they spent at least half the time talking about politics. There were always people in the church who were running for this or that office, and they would pray for their men (no women) of God to win. This was in the 70s and 80s, during what I call the last Great Awakening. Evangelical churches grew a lot during that period. Jerry Falwell's church is a good example. Reagan and both Bushes kissed the asses of these prominent fundagelical leaders and gave them the power they have now. It's going to take some conflict to get it back.
