Iranian, Iraqi ministers hold press conference in Baghdad

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met with Fuad Hussein, his Iraqi counterpart, in the Iraqi capital.

The two ministers are currently giving a press conference in Baghdad.

“The war is still ongoing in the region in another form, and there are military skirmishes on the edges of the Strait of Hormuz,” Hussein told reporters.

“Ending the war in the region is a priority for all of us. The security of the region must be the responsibility of its people. The region can protect itself in several ways, and we call for holding a meeting for the Gulf states, Iraq, and Iran.”

Iraq’s foreign minister stressed in the meeting with Araghchi the importance of opening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the naval blockade.

The visit tackled “regional and bilateral issues”, including coordination for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral ceremonies at Iraqi shrines, according to a statement on Araghchi’s Telegram channel.

Iran’s Araghchi urges US to push Israel to stop its attacks on Lebanon
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says all parts of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the United States should be honoured, including the clauses on Lebanon.

“Regrettably, the Zionist entity continues with its air strikes on Lebanon,” Araghchi said in a joint news conference with his Iraqi counterpart in Baghdad, adding that the MoU signed by the US was also accepted by Israel.

He stressed that Washington “should live up to its responsibility and force” Israel to put an end to its attacks in Lebanon in order to end the war in the country.

Araghchi also called on Washington to push Israel to withdraw from the areas it has been occupying in Lebanon.

“This was the first clause of the MoU,” he said.

That will probably benefit each of them individually. To the economic detriment of the US. Some discomfort for us there.

Israel, on the other hand, has a whole lot to fear here. This won't be good for the Abraham Accord from any angle.

Oh well. You reap what you sow.

No one refers to Iran as "The Persian domination of local minorities."

I also find it rather cynical of Iran to back Hezbollah's sending rockets southward despite a so-called cease-fire, and then blocking the Strait of Hormuz because the Israelis retaliate, which Iran counted on in the first place. Cooler heads will not prevail anywhere as long as this kind of to and fro goes on.
