Having some insomnia, so I ran Mitch's photo through several online photo analyzers.

If you Google something like "How do I tell if a photo is fake", you will get several free online tools to try.

Pretty much all sites "passed" the photo as authentic.

One site that I used rated the photo as having a 45% probability of being AI, citing problems with the software signatures. But that was just on one site out of 4 or 5.

My personal opinion? I have no idea.

The left side of the pillow above his head looks wonky to me.

His fingers on the newspaper look messed up...doctored.

He looks younger than in other recent photos of him.

I think the timing of the release of the photo is suspicious.

But I'm usually wrong about things like this.

If the photo is indeed real, it was obviously staged with a newspaper purposely. I doubt he would be holding onto a sports section nonchalantly while receiving a visit from his wife. "Thanks for coming honey. Let me just grab this sports section here and we'll take a picture that I know a few million people will be looking at with a fine-toothed comb".

As a side note about how I feel about AI...sure, it may be of some use in some applications. However, anything that has any utility at all? Humans will use it for bad acts. They will abuse it, and fuck up everything they can with it. We can't even stop spam phone calls, but we think we can use AI for the common good? C'mon.

And I don't know about you, but I hate living in a world where I have to wonder if something right in front of my face is real or not. We cannot live in a society like that, but we will pursue AI recklessly anyway, and it will probably end us as a "normal" society.

3. They probably did this because Graham died and they couldn't deal with the death rumors anymore.

I think it was mostly Democrats, but now that Graham is gone, even the GOP wants some proof that McConnell will be back causing trouble....

He probably looks a bit younger because his hair is longer and he is under less stress.

Everyone is free to think what they want. But I don't know what good it does to say that Mitch is dead. But if it makes you feel good, go ahead. It won't do any good. The seat is not going to flip. Turtle isn't going to fly into the senate tomorrow either.

and man, there are a LOT of posts about him!

A huge number point out the photo is basically from 2023, as was the newspaper that was supposed to prove it was current. Note his hair is darker, his face is plumper, his cheeks rosy, and the smile (OMFG, have we ever seen him smile?!) Who’s allowed to wear blue jeans in the hospital, fer cryin’ out loud?

Doesn’t address the ambulance hauling his body away with NO hurry. IMHO, he was already dead.

They have NOT given “proof of life” and every one of these sons of bitches should be run out of government on a rail—and straight into prison. There’s been a coup already and they’re all fucking criminals.

it keeps being referenced but not link provided.

Also he is not in the hospital; he is in rehab. I have a friend in the same situation, he wears regular clothes.

“2023 photo of McConnell and Elaine Chao”. The first photo that came up was the one others in the comments have posted. (Clearly, they’re much better techies than I.)

If you copy that one and today’s and post them one above the other, the similarities are too great to miss. Same smile, same expression, same posture, same clothes. There’s no doubt. People here have ruled out AI, but there are other technologies (Photoshop?) that could take out chaises, palm trees and tropical drinks and replace them with a hospital bed. That’s especially true when you consider that the equipment and expertise available to staffers and others at that level of the federal government must be top-notch.

EDIT
Here’s the Imgur link to the two photos next to each other, at least one atop the other.

Anyway, I’ve gotta believe my own eyes.

6. If there was a photo of me holding a newspaper
Mon Jul 13, 2026, 02:33 AM

it will be fake. I haven't read a newspaper in 40 years except for the occasional USA Today rag that some hotels deliver to your room everyday.

Yeah, Mitch is more "old school" than me... but taking a newspaper? does he have a rotary dial phone at his former house, the house his wife is renovating while she is in China... possibly to put on the market?

10. Where is the hospital wrist ID stuff?🤔

That thing they wrap on your wrist that stays with you even post discharge and you have to cut off when you get home. Never been hospitalized, as recently as last year, without one.
And never laid in a hospital bed without their gowns on, for access to all the wraps and tubes they use.

12. It seems that hospital visits can take at least 10 years off your face.

Is all I can say. But I do wonder if on Aug. 3 or there abouts all of a sudden he will fall again.

The verdict on Snopes.com is that the pictures are fake but they don't know if he's alive or not.The last statement they have was from July 7th and is below.

Mitch McConnell didn't post proof of life on X | Snopes.com https://share.google/NoIz6aPXEvy9xYHOK

The alleged proof of life from McConnell was fake. The post did not appear on the senator's actual X page. No reputable news sources (archived, archived, archived) reported that McConnell had been released from hospital or had given a public update about his health. Given the high level of public interest in McConnell's health, reputable media would have reported on such an update, if true.

Snip

Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he's receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital. The Senator continues to improve, and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.

13. Not buying the photo, at all. He had some sort of cerebro-vascular incident and judging from his issues-
Mon Jul 13, 2026, 03:13 AM

I.e. falling, difficulty focusing, obvious cognitive deficits that would take years to overcome, he has another incident which was hypoxic, meaning more damage to his brain, body. Yet here he is sitting up, alert and focused, supposedly able to read and retain info, which he could not do before his latest incident. Liars.
