Hi Folks,
Lots to go through today, so Im gonna cut right to the chase. We officially launched our Resistance Nerve Center in Madison, Wisconsin last Wednesday and my essay today will recap the presentation I used to recruit volunteers during our statewide zoom meeting.
The big question I asked at the beginning of the presentation was Why do we need to form a resistance movement?
In explaining that answer, I referenced Yale Professor of History Tim Snyders essay called The Logic of Destruction.
I encourage you all to subscribe to Professor Snyders Substack, but if you dont want to pay the money, heres the gist of his essay: Trump and the oligarchs are deliberately trying to destroy our country.
This destruction will irreparably harm most of us, but the oligarchs will weather the storm and ultimately come out on the other side with more power because they have already bet on/prepared for this destruction and will be able to buy up more of our GDP while the rest of us are on our backs.
Making enemies of Canada, Mexico, and Europe will isolate us from countries where constitutionalism works and where people are prosperous--thus making us lose hope that we can become that again.
The oligarchs worldview is that we exist to serve them, and that they can rule better than democratically elected representatives.
The result? If we dont form a resistance to fight back, all of us, except for the oligarchs, will eventually be broke and isolated from rest of the free world.
Ill let you know by next week when we plan to actually open the Madison Nerve Center (we are still trying to hire staffers to work Monday-Friday, 11-4 pm), and what well do there when we open. If you're interested in working for our nerve center, please contact us here.
I also plan to update you on the other facets of this resistance once weve made progress on those fronts: mutual aid, legal aid, coordinated non-cooperation, etc.
In the meantime, here is what Im asking you all to do if youre interested in getting involved.
First: sign up to volunteer with us by using this link.
Were particularly looking to fill the following volunteer roles:
Regional Leads (4- 6 people) Help organize volunteers by region.
Power Mapping Leads (2- 3 people) Tracks bad government actors.
Citizen Journalism Lead (2- 3 people) - Manages training & video storage.
Media & Exposure Team (3- 4 people) - Manages social media and relationships with progressive media to disseminate video.
Second: Join me on this Zoom Call next Wednesday, March 12, at 7-pm for a resistance update, where I'll update everyone in person on our progress and answer questions.
Third: we cant do this without a few full-time political organizers. I'm funding what were doing right now with existing money from the Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC, but we have to raise more money to fund two full-time positionsone in Milwaukee and one Madison.
We raised approximately $15K last week, which is about ¼ of what we need at minimum for a professional organizer.
Id like to raise $200K to for two people. This budget would include salary, benefits, and overhead (office, utilities, supplies).
If you agree with me and think there is a huge void that needs to be filled in order to anticipate and counter the inevitable harm that will ultimately reach Wisconsin from Washington D.C., heres a link to donate.
And obviously, the more beer, coffee, wine, soda, and THC beverage (coming soon) you buy from us, the more we will be able to self-fund this resistance movement without having to ask for donations.
That's a whole lot to digest, and I've got a full day of power mapping to do so gotta stop here.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for sticking with the Minocqua Brewing Company.
I'm pretty sure I know now, after all the conversations I've had, what needs to be done. We, as a activist company, are able to move more quickly than most -because we're a business and businesses aren't run by committee.
I hope I'll be able to meet many of you in person as we continue to roll up our sleeves to protect our freedoms and treasure from Musk and his thugs.
Until then, cheers.
