Indivisible updates + actions: No Kings on Saturday and T-rump's flailing

https://indivisible.actionkit.com/mailings/view/124899

In this week's newsletter, Ezra spotlights Trump's most recent desperate attempts to project strength (that actually demonstrate weakness) and we share your weekly to-dos, from getting ready for No Kings on Saturday (!) and demanding Congress hold the line against Trump's secret police, to standing in solidarity with the trans community.

NEW: VISIBILITY PROJECT:

Our new #visibility brigade website is up! Lots of useful tools to helping us reach the necessary 3.5% #resistance to stop this horror. Please use and share! www.visibilitybrigade.com @jesscraven101.bsky.social @andreachalupa.bsky.social @maddow.msnbc.com

DU'er,

For the lead up to No Kings 3, I’ve got just two major breaking news items with the same theme: Trump is flailing. He’s doing what weakening authoritarians always do: lashing out, escalating, creating new crises to distract from the last ones.

1. Trump is deploying ICE to airports. Over the weekend, Trump announced the deployment of ICE agents to airports to "support" TSA agents, starting today.

Here’s the context: TSA is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has been shut down for six weeks because of the public backlash to Trump’s secret police. Democrats demanded basic accountability; Republicans refused. Now TSA agents have missed full paychecks, hundreds have quit, and airport lines are becoming unbearable. Dems have offered to fund TSA and everything but the lawless ICE and Border Patrol seven times but the GOP has refused. This weekend, we saw signs of fracture on the right -- multiple GOP Senators publicly floated passing a Democratic proposal, and Republican Senate Leader John Thune even reportedly pitched Trump on the plan as a way to displace the political heat on Republicans. And then Trump nixed it.

So now Trump's solution is to send the very agency that caused this shutdown to the airports buckling under it.

This isn’t just damaging and dangerous, it’s also strategically nonsensical and will backfire. Millions of Americans have never had direct contact with Trump’s goon squads. Now they’re going to see armed, untrained ICE agents up close -- working alongside actual TSA staff who Trump is personally refusing to pay. This is the kind of chaotic move you make when you’re losing and you know it.

2. Trump is threatening to massively escalate the Iran war. We're now in week four of Trump’s illegal, unconstitutional, immoral war with Iran. Iran's decision to close the Strait of Hormuz in response was eminently predictable, but Trump had no plan for what would happen next and no allies willing to back him up. Then this weekend, he issued a 48-hour ultimatum: Fully reopen the Strait by Monday evening, or the US will “hit and obliterate” Iran’s power plants.

Iran’s response was also predictable: If the US acts on its threat, Iran will target all US-linked energy infrastructure across the region.

If Trump follows through, the consequences for the region and global economy get dramatically worse. If he doesn’t, he’s made an empty threat against a country he declared war on. There's no good version of this. Trump’s threat is repugnant morally, likely criminal under international law, and strategically incoherent. This is what a flailing president looks like -- not strong, not strategic, just dangerous and desperate. And reports this morning are that he’s already backtracking.

Trump depends on the world believing he's strong, because bad things happen to authoritarians who look weak. But he is weak, and he knows it, and so does everyone watching. He'll do a lot of damage on the way down,

.

but he will go down. We can all do our part to hasten his fall by making March 28 a historic demonstration of our power and of his weakness. Say it with me:

No ICE. No Wars. No Kings.

No ICE. No Wars. No Kings.

No ICE. No Wars. No Kings.

Now let’s get millions of our friends to say it with us this Saturday at more protests than this world has ever seen.

In solidarity,
Ezra Levin
Co-Executive Director, Indivisible

Your weekly to-dos

1. Get ready for No Kings (this Saturday, March 28)! Have you found your closest protest? Told three friends about it? Checked out our trainings and other resources? Great! Now keep spreading the word -- on social media, among friends, at a local overpass, (See VISIBILITY LINK ABOVE) or wherever you can. In the face of Trump's bloody war, ICE terror, Epstein cover-up, efforts to rig elections, and bottomless corruption, No Kings 3 has to be the biggest protest this country has ever seen. See you there!

2. Call your senators TODAY and tell them to vote NO on Trump's MAGA loyalist nominee for DHS secretary. Markwayne Mullin, Trump's pick to replace the catastrophic Kristi Noem, is just as committed as Noem was to giving ICE free rein to terrorize our communities and ignore the Constitution. Mullin's Senate confirmation vote is expected as soon as today. Tell your senators to hold the line and vote NO.

CRAP! Just call him by his anagram YAM WANKER -U-

3.Tell Congress: DON'T FUND TRUMP'S WAR! The war on Iran has been a disaster since Trump and his cabinet of warmongers and sycophants launched it. As of this writing, thirteen US servicemembers, 1,500 Iranians, and over 1,100 civilians across the region have been killed. That carnage has already cost taxpayers billions of dollars and sent the cost of basic necessities through the roof. Demand that your senators and representative use their power to refuse Trump's demand for more money, conduct meaningful oversight, keep forcing votes on War Powers Resolutions, and oppose the war publicly.

4. Celebrate Trans Day of Visibility by attending this month's entry in our Solidarity in Action: Building Power that Lasts discussion series: Centering Trans Leadership and Accountable Allyship (Monday, March 30, 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT). We'll explore how to practice accountable allyship and inclusive leadership that centers trans voices in movement spaces.

P.S. It's here, it's here, it's finally (almost) here!! No Kings Day is this Saturday, March 28. Organizing a nation-wide event of this magnitude -- the largest of its kind in American history -- doesn't come without significant costs. If you can, please pitch in to support Indivisibles across the country and around the world as we say with one voice: No Kings, No War.

IndivisiWIN of the week
Winter wasn't quite done with the Midwest last week, delivering nine inches of surprise snow to Chippewa Valley, WI. But true to the Midwestern ethos, local Indivisibles saw that snow as a challenge (or, as they put it: "We ain't afraid of no stinkin' blizzard!&quot . And a colorful No Kings snow sculpture was born!

The creativity that Indivisibles bring to this fight against facism is so powerful, not just for the groups pulling out their shovels -- or frog suits, or brass instruments, or knitting needles -- but for the rest of the movement and anyone else who hasn't quite joined the fight yet. Courage is contagious, but it spreads so much faster when carried by joy.

Authoritarian regimes thrive on division and isolation. When we build community around defiance, laughter, and spontaneous acts of snow sculpture, we're signaling our refusal to comply, making clear that no one's alone, and offering a promise that we'll build that better, more democratic future, together. (And, in this case, letting everyone in Chippewa Falls know that No Kings is almost here!).

On Thursday, March 26, we’re activating the full length of Interstate 35 — more than 1,500 miles from northern Minnesota to south Texas — in a coordinated rush-hour visibility action. Our goal is to build momentum for No Kings events being held nationwide on the following Saturday.

Democracy Bridge (Minneapolis) is inviting Indivisible, 50501, Visibility Brigade, and other allies to stand in highly visible areas along I-35 on Thursday, March 26 with one shared template message: YES DEMOCRACY - NO KINGS! 3/28

During morning and/or evening rush hour, local groups will display bold signage visible from the freeway, capture short landscape mode (i.e., horizontal format) video and photos, and upload footage to a central site provided by our team. We will compile clips from north to south into one powerful corridor video for national distribution ahead of March 28.
