CNN CBS 60 Minutes on Sunday rejected former President Donald Trumps claims that the show edited its interview with Vice President Kamala Harris at her campaigns direction. Former President Donald Trump is accusing 60 Minutes of deceitful editing of our Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false, the show said in a statement that noted that Trump backed out of his own 60 Minutes interview earlier this month.
60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes, the statement reads. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide ranging 21-minute-long segment.
In an interview on Foxs MediaBuzz that aired earlier Sunday, Trump suggested Harris should be investigated over her 60 Minutes appearance. He repeated his accusations that CBS News edited the sit-down with correspondent Bill Whitaker. They took the answer out in its entirety and put a completely different answer in that looks that makes her look like shes normal, he told host Howard Kurtz.
The former presidents criticism of CBS comes as has repeatedly turned down invitations from television networks, including CNN and Fox News, for additional debates, instead opting for sit-downs with right-wing media outlets. The Harris campaign has seized on her GOP rival declining interviews to advance her message that he isnt up to being president.

(1,758 posts)he's accusing 60 minutes of. Unlike 60 minutes who only edited for time purposes, there is plenty of proof out there that Fox edited out parts of interviews which showed clear cognitive decline - spouting gibberish, unable to pronounce words, slurred speech, getting basic facts wrong (like referring to Nancy Pelosi as Nikki Haley) and just general statements that made him look like an idiot. Of course, I know Trump is not smart enough to ever do the smart thing.

After the Republican candidate described the editing of the interview as totally illegal a bonkers claim, by any fair measure Trumps legal team wrote to CBS News this week, threatening litigation.....
Its against this backdrop that CNN reported on Trumps staged event at a New York barbershop this week, which was aired on Fox News:
[T]he version of the visit shown on television was, to borrow a hairstyle metaphor, a crop cut. Fox edited out many of Trumps rambling comments and false claims. Participants had to repeatedly follow up when Trump meandered away from the original point of their questions. CNN reviewed a more complete video of the barbershop visit that was uploaded to Instagram on the day of Trumps appearance in the Bronx and compared it to the segments that were shown on Fox & Friends on Monday.
CNNs report, which has not been independently verified by MSNBC or NBC, added that what Fox News showed viewers omitted numerous Trump tangents and exaggerations, as well as his rambling comments.......
But according to CNNs report, Foxs segment was edited in such a way as to prevent Trump from looking even worse.
The result is a set of questions that seems rather obvious, but are worth asking anyway. Will the former president demand that Fox & Friends be pulled from the air? Will he target Foxs broadcast license? Will he withdraw from the 2024 race as a result of the allegations?
Will he demand that Fox release the full and unedited version of his appearance? Will he characterize the networks edits as totally illegal, a threat to democracy, and the single biggest scandal in broadcast history?
Will Foxs lawyers be hearing from Trumps attorneys?
I have a hunch we know the answers.
