(3,610 posts)That was the deal breaker. Just learned that from a local news outlet that interviewed the strikers.

(13,141 posts)Making an assumption that they want the pension to include retroactive credit for all the previous years since it was replaced by a 401K ten years ago instead of starting back up new.
Since the 401k plan includes company contributions as well as anything they put in, that would mean they expect Boeing to fund two retirement plans for that 10 year period. I can't see any employer going for that.

(13,141 posts)The former pension plan was ended in 2014. Someone hired that year would have now been in the 401k plan for 10 years now. If that is replaced with a pension, would that person have 10 years vested or zero?
I'm not sure what they are asking for.

(2,517 posts)We all need to show those making the bigger salaries that they don't hold unlimited power and they have lesser paid workers to answer to.
The profit pissing game these corps compete in come at the expense of worker pay. There is plenty of money to go around. Companies can afford to pay workers fair and livable wages. That is a choice. It's up to workers to force those corporations to make the right choice.
