Lara Trump is ready and willing to join the U.S. Senate if called, she told Fox Newss Sean Hannity on Wednesday.
The co-chair of the Republican National Committee and daughter-in-law to Donald Trump has been floated by Florida Sen. Rick Scott as a potential replacement for Sen. Marco Rubio following his nomination earlier this week to serve as Donald Trumps Secretary of State.
Lara Trump said the opportunity to join the Senate would be "incredible."
If I am able to serve, I would love to be able to serve the people of Florida, Lara Trump said, noting that she hasnt yet been asked to take the role. No one knows better than I do the America First agenda or the goals of Donald Trump in the coming four years, she added.

(92,634 posts)And she'd serve for the holidays and be out again by 1/3 when the new Congress is seated. Fuckhead resigned from this Congress which ends on Jan 3 next year, he was reelected so he'll be back in January unless he's not seated for the next Congress for some reason.

(142,091 posts)"Little Marco" is probably the least "controversial" of all the loons that have been floated out there.
I was thinking the House seat vacated by the pedophile.
Would there be a special election at some point? It's a six year term, I don't think a full term would be covered by a governor's appointee.
But it's Florida so I could be wrong.
BumRushDaShow
(142,091 posts)the timing of that may be up to the state though.

(92,634 posts)I was thinking.
BumRushDaShow
(142,091 posts)until the Special Election is held - which typically might be at the next general election, and then the winner of the special election would serve out the rest of the term.
I think Rubio had run for reelection in 2022 (that was the seat that Val Demmings was running for), so his term would have been up in 2028.

(92,634 posts)Coffee's kicking in now, I forgot when his term was up... too!
Eek, more coffee!

(142,091 posts)even though I *did* donate to Val when she was running for the seat! Wasn't sure if it was 2020 or 2022!!

(221,913 posts)But the appointment of Gillibrand to replace Senator Clinton, who was appointed Secretary of State by President Obama, required no Special Election.
BumRushDaShow
(142,091 posts)it is sometimes associated with specific "timing" - if the resignation happens "within x days of a general election, then...'Y', otherwise,... 'Z'".
E.g., if someone resigned "early" - a couple months before a general election (instead of finishing the term like what happened in NJ with Menendez, who had been up for reelection but decided not to run), then there wasn't a need for a Special Election to replace that seat, and the person who was appointed would be simply serving out the rest of the term until the newly-elected person takes over in January!

(221,913 posts)So in February, Scott Murphy was nominated to run as the Democrat in a Special Election to replace Gillibrand. That was the campaign I worked on. He won and was sworn in on April 29. I looked him up to remember the dates and the article said he voted for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Wish we still had him today. *sigh*
BumRushDaShow
(142,091 posts)while she was still in the Senate, she HAD to "resign" (plus she had just been elected in 2006, so that term wasn't up until 2012).
Clinton Resigns Senate Seat
What happened "after" would have been up to the state with respect to timing of appointments and Special Elections.

(668 posts)Doesn't matter much because Americans don't seem to care anyway. Learning about anything substantive by most Americans would require them to stop binge playing clash royale* or scrolling thru social media posts from friends** who use the platform to post cherry picked and staged photos that make their own messed up lives seem perfect.
* Or whatever game app they prefer to waste 5 hours a day on
** Couple friends, some family, but mostly complete strangers and acquaintances.

(1,517 posts)Also the salary of those three guys at the Army Corps of Engineers who work exclusively on new designs for BLOTUSs girdles and SLOTUSs foundation garments should be eliminated.
I have other suggestions that involve Presidential golfing and paying for secret service detail. Could really save some money there.

(35,632 posts)She'll lose her job as Chump's Handmaiden at the RNC.
But Lara will only get a short stint as an appointed Senator from Florida. After Florida has a special election, maybe the Dems will gain another seat. By then there should be a huge backlash against anyone with the same name as Chump.
