Whoopi Goldberg Says SI Bakery Refused Her Service Due to Liberal Views
Source: La Voce di New York
Whoopi Goldberg alleged a Staten Island bakery denied her service because they disagreed with her left-leaning political views during an episode of The View this week, while the owner of the business later asserted it was due to mechanical issues.
As Goldberg and her co-hosts celebrated her 69th birthday during Wednesdays episode with desserts from the bakery, she shared with the audience that her order had almost fallen through because of their objection to her liberal stances.
They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway, which is why Im not telling you who made them, said Goldberg. She continued that her order was rejected because they did not like my politics.
Remaining outspoken in her political views, Goldberg has not spoken the name of Donald Trump on air since he was elected.

Living in Staten Island, this story is all over the news here. Holtermanns statement:
Holtermann confirmed that she ultimately was able to make the 50 treats Goldberg ordered, which were picked up early Wednesday morning for The Views taping.

(16,293 posts)Nor did her business get a mention on The View which might have brought her more business. Stupid.
I'm sure there are other NYC bakeries that would love Goldberg's or The View's business and a plug on their show.

It is the bakery making the accusation. It is Goldberg who should be presumed innocent until proved guilty.
The bakery said Goldberg is lying. Goldberg did not even mention the name of the bakery.

(17,790 posts)She accused them of not fulfilling her order for nefarious reasons. She has a history of stuff like this too. I've been there since I was a kid. Never a political sign, and customers of all colors.

(17,790 posts)I have been going to this bakery since the 70's, and my mother went there long before that. I have never seen so much as a political sign in the store. Holtermanns denies it.

They saw a Black woman in the store and they didn't want to serve her. They didn't realize she was famous, or rich, only Black. I hope I'm wrong.

(35,632 posts)I'm guessing Whoopi Goldberg must have done something to provoke a situation. And then she took it too far.

(43 posts)The boiler was 60 or 70 years old and wasn't working properly. They had to have it fixed/replaced. The owner didn't want to promise an order she couldn't deliver on - which was dependent on the boiler being fixed/replaced.
