Elon Musk Threatening 'Consequences' Sparks Backlash

Source: Newsweek

Published Nov 16, 2024 at 4:34 PM EST | Updated Nov 16, 2024 at 5:04 PM EST

Following this year's presidential election, billionaire Elon Musk has said there will be "consequences" for those who "pushed foreign interference hoaxes" in a post on his social media platform, which sparked backlash on Saturday. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that the founder of Tesla and SpaceX would lead what he called the "Department of Government Efficiency" or (DOGE), along with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, to "dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies."

No such department exists and the president-elect didn't offer many details about how it would operate or how it would be staffed, if at all. Trump's statement said DOGE "will provide advice and guidance from outside of Government, and will partner with the White House and Office of Management & Budget."

However, the appointment of Musk has raised concerns as the billionaire, who frequently posts his political opinions on X, formerly Twitter, which he bought in October 2022, has continued to speak on what he aims to do given his recent appointment. In a post on X, Musk who seemingly pointed towards concerns over foreign interference in the 2024 election, warned that there will be "consequences" for those who pushed "foreign interference hoaxes."

"There will be consequences for those who pushed foreign interference hoaxes. The Hammer of Justice is coming," he wrote on Saturday. Newsweek has reached out to Musk via X's email for comment. While Musk did not specify who he is referring to, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) issued a stark warning about foreign interference in the U.S. elections a day before Election Day, singling out Russia and Iran as the biggest threats

Efficiency in my mind would ensure that a contract vendor with the federal government would not require a secondary government agency to ensure that no national security conflicts exist.

Certainly the head of such department would agree; no?

She's everything Trump hates in immigrants. But since she's willing to touch him, it's apparently ok. How disgusting do you have to be to be intimate with a stinking, diaper wearing, orange skinned, demented Nazi.

that the hardcore loons and alt-right were on like Gab and Telegram. All he did was make sure that he could idiotically depopulate what was a mainstream social media service, used not just by the general public, but by most governmental entities as a rapid communications tool, and have it devolve into the same kind of low-life nonsense as those other services were already covering.

Elon should be careful not to break the law.
Not to violate the Constitution.
Not to ignore people's rights.
Not to harm America.
.
The bad guys are in charge right now.
Like in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945.
But the bad guys lost power in 1945.
.
And then there were severe consequences for those who had committed evil deeds.
.
Be careful Elon.
The bad guys will not be in charge forever!

This seems too defeatist.
People have been fighting for freedom in the United States for 250 years.
The Revolution.
Abolition.
Freeing the slaves.
Freedom of Speech in WWI.
Women's rights.
The Civil Rights movement.
Gay rights.
On and on.
.
100,000 Japanese people were locked up in camps in WWII.
That must have seemed like the end of the world, but it was over in a couple of years.
And then freedom advanced again.
.
I don't see any reason for us to give up now!

Elon Musk is a drug-addled malignant narcissist. He is not capable of delivering any “consequences” to anyone, and his massive ego is too large to share space with Donald Trump’s own enormous ego.

Within 12 months, Elon and Trump will be raging at each other and promising “consequences” for each other.

Meanwhile, if you’re still on X or using X, stop complaining about the horrible climate. You’re choosing to stay there and give Musk advertising revenue and engagement. If everyone who dislikes Musk quit X, it would disappear.
