PHOENIX A year-long defamation case against Kari Lake, who falsely blamed a local Arizona election official for her 2022 defeat for governor and has sowed distrust in American election systems, has been settled.
The details of the settlement are confidential, according to two people familiar with the terms, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a private settlement. A court docket in Maricopa County Superior Court stated Sunday that an agreed upon settlement disposition has been reached as to all parties and claims.
Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, who brought the lawsuit against Lake, her husband and others, said in a text message Sunday that both sides are satisfied with the result.

(395 posts)I am sick and tired of seeing suits against liars who have destroyed America's faith in elections get settled with "undisclosed terms". EVERY one of these settlements should require the liar to take out daily full page ads in the local and even national papers for a week admitting that they lied. They must also run a couple of million dollars in TV and internet ads also admitting their guilt.
Otherwise what's the point? A law firm makes bank and the plaintiff pockets some cash but these cases are fundamentally different from a auto injury or embezzlement. The public was damaged by them and the public deserves compensation.

(84,268 posts)Has she finally gotten it through her thick head that she can't win a legitimate election?
Hell, I doubt she can even win an ILLEGITIMATE election.
I find it interesting that when individuals like her can't win a legitimate election, they immediately try to tarnish the whole operation. Just give it up, Kari. Go do something else and get out of our hair.

(27,270 posts)He did his job well for Maricopa County and ran a clean election in 2020. He was defeated in his primary last spring by an election denier. That's when I started to get nervous about this election.
