Russian negotiator suggests ceasefire may not be reached in 2025

Russian negotiator Grigory Karasin cast doubt on the Trump administration's efforts to broker a quick ceasefire in Ukraine, saying on March 28 that the talks with the U.S. may not yield decisive results this year.

Karasin led the Russian delegation that held the 12-hour-long technical consultations with the U.S. in Riyadh on March 24. These talks led to an agreement on a partial ceasefire covering strikes against energy infrastructure and Black Sea operations.

The Russian official described the meeting with the U.S. delegation as "constructive" but acknowledged limited results, suggesting that the consultations will continue. When asked about the timeline for clear results in the negotiations, he said they might not come "this year or at the end of this year."......................

Some escaped and managed to get across one of Russia's western borders.

Some were adopted out to "good Russians".

Some plopped into re-education camps or, if you, orphanages.

And who'll even know about what happened to some of them? it's not like Russians are any more virtuous than Americans when it comes to "compelled household help" or the trade in the young for sex.

2. There won't be one IMO. Besides the fact they think they may have the advantage currently because of US wimping out

Pooty claimed he was forced to do this because of the threat of having a NATO nation with NATO troops right on his door step. Well that's out the window because he now has one on his doorstep and even if there's a ceasefire its going to include that NATO country on his border AND NATO countries boots playing Peacekeepers right on his doorstep. So if they agree to whats currently being offered, everything Russia supposedly "feared" prior from NATO to the invasion would come to fruition. Almost all of Russia's Western Flank would have NATO troops or boots from NATO countries within a mile of its border. Pooty loses. That ain't gonna happen IMO.

And besides all of that, a lot Europe itself hasn't committed to any kind of ceasefire thats currently on the table. They are ready and willing to keep Ukraine fighting and pushing Russia back because just as much as Russia doesn't want NATO on its door step, NATO doesn't want Russia to have a defense line that potentially extends from Kaliningrad to the Black Sea.

Ukraine's geographic location has, unfortunately, made its land the blood soaked ground between Eastern and Western Europe for centuries. I seriously don't believe Russia will stop until they at least get to the river if not the whole of Ukraine and even Poland and the Baltics if the West shows enough weakness.. It's the only way they think they can keep the West far enough away from Moscow that they feel safe. Their leaders were and still are paranoid pshycofucks.

The simple, very simple fact is, as long as there is an autocratic dicktater like pooty running The Bear with all of those rusty nukes on its back, there will be no peace period.

4. I Have Said Since Early February

That the conditions are not ripe on the ground for a ceasefile (or peace agreement) and said that it may take another 2 years for that to be the case. One reason is that both Putin and Trump keep moving the goalposts and that is a very clear signal on intentions. Another is that Trump hasn't even brought up the 20,000 Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russian forces early in the war.

What is going on now reminds me of Vietnam negotiations where it took roughly 2 years to move beyond the shape of the negotiating table.
