President Trump 'pissed off' at Putin, threatens stiff tariffs on oil over Ukraine war demands

President Trump said he was “very angry” and “pissed off” after Russian President Vladimir Putin — as he threatened harsh tariffs on Moscow’s oil over the stalled peace talks.

The American president appeared to be fed up with Putin over the lull in the cease-fire talks after Moscow announced additional conditions before it complies with a US-backed deal to limit attacks in the Black Sea and away from energy facilities.

Specifically, Trump railed against a report that Putin called for a transitional government in Ukraine that would push out President Volodymyr Zelensky. Putin also said Ukraine’s generals should remove Zelensky themselves, according to a report from AFP.

“If Russia and I are unable to make a deal on stopping the bloodshed in Ukraine, and if I think it was Russia’s fault — which it might not be — but if I think it was Russia’s fault, I am going to put secondary tariffs on oil, on all oil coming out of Russia,” Trump told NBC News on Sunday.

“That would be that if you buy oil from Russia, you can’t do business in the United States,” he added. “There will be a 25% tariff on all oil, a 25- to 50-point tariff on all oil.”

And other resources, in order to have the US's continued support. Billions maybe Trillions worth. No doubt Trump will get a big personal cut of that business. Or he'd have never even bothered.

So now Putin is not agreeing to the ceasefire Trump set up by using extortion on Ukraine for their riches....because those riches were supposed to be for Putin and his friends. Putin knows that if those riches are under US control, they would never come back into Putin's greedy hands again.

19. Nothing has been agreed. That most recent strategic resources "deal" is a non-starter, as it should be.

Zelensky has said as much publicly. He's also said that Ukraine will not be repaying past US aid, monetary and in kind, it's received unless it was specifically framed as a loan at the time it was granted.

The concensus seems to be that the "deal" was drawn up in terms that mean neither Trump nor his team thought there was a chance in hell of it being agreed to. It may have been a backstop so that Trump could blame Zelensky if no peace deal was reached. The European backlash - which was vehement - may have helped persuade Trump & co. to change tack to a certain extent for now, at least.
