Iran rejects Trump's request for direct nuclear negotiations, state media reports

LONDON -- Tehran has rejected direct negotiations with the United States in regarding its nuclear program, responding to a letter from President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency.

However, he added, the path for indirect negotiations remains open, the state news agency reported.

"In this response, although direct negotiations between the two parties are rejected, it has been stated that the path for indirect negotiations is open," Pezeshkian said. Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s response to the U.S. president's letter was sent via Oman.

He emphasized that Iran has never avoided negotiations and blamed the United States for not fulfilling its former commitments, including terminating the former nuclear deal in Trump's first term in 2018.

things this administration is doing? Let's face the facts - America loves war - it boosts the economy, it justifies our military spending or increased military spending, and most important of all....

It provides cover for all kinds of executive and congressional actions - the old "Love it or Leave it" fake patriotism that Bush II used.

Mark my words.....it's coming.

But he had trouble revoking DACA, although it finally got chunked away by the courts during the Biden administration, with the requirement to no longer allow any "new" registrants.

We've broken so many agreements and burned so many bridges. Iran is not stupid, they have seen what we have done with past agreements. No one is taking the US seriously anymore. I mean, we had the deal going when Obama was in office, but Trump and Netanyahu wanted to break it and did. So if I am Iran, why should I believe the US? We have no right to complain about what Turkey, Iran, or any other country is doing when we are going the very things that we criticize them for.
