Democratic-led states sue to block Trump from $11 billion health funding cut

April 1 (Reuters) - A group of Democratic-led states on Tuesday sued Republican U.S. President Donald Trump's administration to challenge its cancellation of $11 billion in federal grants the states were allocated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attorneys general and governors from 23 states and the District of Columbia in a
lawsuit filed in federal court in Rhode Island argue the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services lacks the authority to unilaterally claw back funding the states had already built health programs around.

The grant funding was being used by states to track, prevent and control infectious diseases, including measles and bird flu, as well as track mental health services and fund addiction treatment.

"By eliminating billions in critical funding for essential public health initiatives, the administration is effectively telling the American people to fend for themselves," Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha said in a statement.

2. Lawsuits are fine and well...but MATH is better...

Tax cuts - ANY tax cuts at all - in the face of the supposedly grave deficit issues are insanity. No matter how much "waste, fraud and abuse" (which they have my tots and pears for NOT finding) you claim to justify the tax cuts, the facts remain - MATH is true and lies are all we get.

$5,000,000,000,000 = $6T annual budget (estimated for round numbers)
$35,000,000,000,000 = $35T deficit
$25,000,000,000,000 = $25T annual GDP

Debt to GDP ratio? (given those assumptions above) --- 140%
In addition to annual debt service on this, the GOP wishes to add another $5T in tax cuts as well...

The draconian cuts and fire bombing of benefits and support for the people who need it most that is happening now is amoral.

$11,000,000,000 = $11B
$35,000,000,000,000 = $35T

That is 0.3% of the total debt....BUT if you add in the $5T tax cut kicker - the GOP actions are going to put pulic health at greater risk, AND INCREASE THE DEFICIT by $4,989,000,000,0000 ($4.89 T) in the end.

Stop the insanity. Tell the story in ways that make this nonsense apparent for what it is - a massive theft of the nation's wealth for the oligarchs and the 0.01% ruling class.

You cannot solve a problem by making it worse.
