House Democrat Nails Exactly Why GOP Is 'So Out Of Touch' With Americans

Source: Huff Post

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) slammed Republicans on Tuesday for proposing major cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which helps an average of over 42 million Americans purchase food each month.

“Folks who paid taxes and played by the rules, expecting that their government will help them if they fall on hard times and you guys want to tell them to all go screw themselves?” he said at a House Agriculture Committee markup meeting.

“It is so out of touch it takes my breath away. You guys make Marie Antoinette look down to earth. Donald Trump’s Cabinet is like an episode of the ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.’ These people are totally clueless. They don’t shop for their own groceries, they don’t buy their own food.”

Aside from reportedly proposing to slash over $290 billion in federal funding from the program, which is administered by states, the House GOP proposal also includes tweaks to work requirements for participants. The proposal is one of the ways House Republicans look to offset tax cuts in their “big, beautiful bill” that they hope will satisfy President Donald Trump’s agenda.

These assholes don’t know that Joe and Joe Biden shop at the local grocery store and the coffee shop. I have seen them they assume that he’s a rich bastard too. He’s not.

The Leopards Eat Faces Party is feasting on nonvoters and can’t survive without them.

I reconsidered my frustration with Schumer. When Schumer says it will take time to show the contrast he’s talking about non voters realizing there is a contrast.

There’s a catch-22 in Democratic ideology. We advocate for everyone, even large blocs that don’t vote. We’ve had to move to the center to survive, but that will change if and when non voters get motivated — unless it turns out to be too late.

5. Could some non-voters have been kicked off the voting rolls by the rethugs?

Disenfranchising Democratic voters is one of their many tactics for cheating in elections.

It certainly doesn't excuse the vast majority of non-voters, but this might account for a small percentage.

They could vote (they say as much), but they don't.

I think this time around, many didn't vote due to the Israel/Gaza conflict. I know a few from this camp as well.

Centrist means making nice with the GOP, how about "A chicken in every pot"? Getting more money into more peoples hands will grow the economy and get our health insurance nationalized already, it is projected to save money even during the initial transition year.

They got the bigoted people in the poor and working classes
to vote against their own best interests, many of them in
the mindset of rugged individualism and social darwinism.

Thats where we are now.

However, what the greedy, rich, and predatory GOPers don't
realize is that their lives will also be upended and will change
much for the worse as long as their lust for greed and power
continues.

They are not immune to diseases, are subject to climate change
like everyone else, and are completely ignorant of how to live
in a human society.
