Noem's claim that Afghan refugees can safely return to their Taliban-ruled homeland is 'just absurd,' advocates say

The Trump administration says Afghan refugees can safely return to Afghanistan despite warnings from rights groups and lawmakers that Afghans who worked for the U.S. military face the threat of persecution, imprisonment and even execution by the Taliban regime.

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Monday it had stripped legal protections for thousands of Afghans in the U.S., saying that the security and economic situation in Afghanistan no longer justified granting them temporary protected status, or TPS. “We’ve reviewed the conditions in Afghanistan with our interagency partners, and they do not meet the requirements for a TPS designation,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement. “Afghanistan has had an improved security situation, and its stabilizing economy no longer” prevents Afghans from returning to their home country, she said.

DHS officials had previously signaled plans to cancel temporary protected status for Afghans but did not formally rescind it until Monday. Lawmakers and rights groups said the Trump administration’s decision would put thousands of Afghans’ lives at risk and betray partners who had risked their lives to work for the U.S. military during America’s 20-year war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

“It’s just absurd and divorced from reality to claim that Afghan refugees can safely return to Afghanistan,” said Eleanor Acer, senior director for global humanitarian protection for the nonprofit Human Rights First. “Many Afghans would face dire risks of persecution if they are forced back into the hands of the Taliban,” Acer said. “Journalists, human rights advocates, religious minorities, women’s rights defenders and people who worked with the U.S. military and government are all in danger of Taliban persecution or retaliation if they are forced back to Afghanistan.”

She could wear that tight white shirt she wore in El Salvador, with the bra so popular among MAGAt women that makes their breasts look like two cricket balls stuffed down their front. Also be sure to wear one of those prominent crosses that are specifically treated so as not to burn the flesh of the unholy. Maybe a jacket with “I killed Cricket” printed on the back. Of course, she could carry one of those big old guns she loves to use as props.
Since Afghan women aren’t allowed any education, she’d fit right in.

Of course, if made to wear a burka, it would yield the most flattering picture of her ever taken.

After a month or two of “investigating”, we’d like another report.

Imprisonment, torture, death....it's all on the table.
Kristi Noem doesn't care about that, as long as another bunch of brown people are thrown out of the country.
Being a white supremacist means you never have to say you're sorry.

is a true female "new" Republican. A burned out female, "over the hill," still wanting to be relevant, and doing anything and everything that will get her in the good graces of the Republican Management.

She, Bondi, Boebert, MTG, etc etc etc are no different than the whores that line E. Colfax here in Denver, with ONE exception.......
There are some things that the whores on E. Colfax won't do,.......for ANY amount of money...

These burned out women, get a load of plastic surgery, Liposuction, the required "Republican Rack", and take off to Washington, saying and doing anything/everything that will get them attention by Trump's CABAL.......

There is a joke going around that when they go to the plastic surgeon, he asks them: "Brains or Boobs".....it is obvious that if you look at a picture of any of them, and listen to the drivel that comes out of their mouths, what their decision was.........

None of them are safe there, and the women and girls will be forced into virtual imprisonment in their homes if the whole bunch of them are just not executed upon arrival for cooperation with Americans. The hatefulness of this administration knows no bounds, but racist white privileged South Africans are welcome here now.
