University of Virginia President Resigns Under Pressure From Trump Administration

Source: NYT

Michael S. Schmidt, an investigative reporter, and Michael C. Bender, who writes about education, have been covering the Trump administration’s clash with Harvard University and other schools for months.

The University of Virginia’s president, James E. Ryan, has told the board overseeing the school that he will resign in the face of demands by the Trump administration that he step aside in order to help resolve a Justice Department inquiry into the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, according to three people briefed on the matter.

For the leader of a major public university to take such an extraordinary step demonstrates President Trump’s success in harnessing the investigative powers of the federal government to accomplish his administration’s policy goals.

The New York Times reported on Thursday evening that the Justice Department had demanded Mr. Ryan’s resignation as a condition to settle a civil rights investigation into the school’s diversity practices. The

If he resigns, he is given a nice settlement to coast into retirement with. The humiliation only lasts two weeks. The settlement will last the next 15-20 years.

It's not a hard choice. If you are a university president to begin with you are a completely craven opportunist, so everyone knows how these things will play out.

The University of Virginia has been considered among the top five public universities for more than two decades, according to U.S. News & World Report rankings, and has maintained that position during Mr. Ryan’s tenure. This year, the Princeton Review ranked the university as the second-best value among all public colleges. Last year, Time magazine ranked the college as the fourth-best public school at producing future leaders.

Clearly, the policy under him works. If its entrance requirements had produced falling standards, I could see an argument for "diversity is hurting us". But it obviously hasn't.

all I can say is F*CK TRUMP and F*CK STEVEN MILLER. I hope they die slowly, alone, and in agonizing, unrelenting, untreatable pain.

goons of Crumb The 1st is evident when the NYT says "investigative powers" rather than the words to truthfully describe it. Those words are "thuggish bullying".
