Trump-backed crypto regulation bills fail to clear key hurdle in Congress

The U.S. House failed Tuesday to clear a key procedural hurdle that would have cleared the way for votes in the lower chamber on several crypto-related bills.

The failed vote delivers a major blow to to the crypto industry, which was hoping for a series of legislative wins this week — which had been billed as “Crypto Week.”

The final vote was 196-223, with 13 Republicans voting with Democrats to block the procedural motion, NBC News reports

If the cryptobros can buy 16 Dem senators, surely they can afford 13 republican reps.

Apparently the Rules package failed and some members complained that Amendments were not allowed while others wanted to combine into a single bill.

Speaker Johnson says House members killed this rule because certain members want multiple crypto bills combined -- CLARITY, GENIUS and Anti CBDC Surveillance Act.

"This is the legislative process. We have some members who really, really want to emphasize the house's product"
