At Least 20 Killed in Stampede Outside a Gaza Food Site, Aid Group Says

Source: NYT

"Gaza’s health ministry and the Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the organization that operates the aid distribution site, reported that at least 20 aid seekers were killed as they waited for food on the outskirts of Khan Younis.CreditCredit...Hatem Khaled/Reuters

There were conflicting reports about the stampede, which started about 6 a.m. Wednesday on the outskirts of Khan Younis, the largest city in southern Gaza.

The Gazan health ministry said that tear gas had been fired into a crowd gathered at the distribution site, causing the stampede. It said 21 people were killed, 15 of whom suffocated.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation said that 20 people were killed after armed agitators among a gathering crowd site created a “chaotic and dangerous surge.” Nineteen of the victims were trampled and one was stabbed, the aid organization said in a statement, adding that it was “heartbroken.”

1. It's going to get worse and worse unless the UN aid agencies are let back in.

Which Israel won't allow.

About 10% of children now suffering from acute malnutrition, doubling since the siege began in March.

That's around 100,000 children.

Oh well, Israel must be "secure"!!

the southern portion of Gaza and the sea, think it was in the WP.

Asshole in the gaudy Oval Office yesterday joking about how it was a bad real estate deal to give up oceanfront property. I’ll find both references and post here later.

They'll be cut off from the sea too. Already being "reminded" by the IDF they can't swim or go in the sea. Their only source of relief from the heat, bathing and play for the children!

What century are we in? What happened to "civilization"? Or "Never again"?

4. Just found it, was in the NYT, red lines on the map are recently constructed roads by the Israeli military ...

according to the article.

Two roads blocking are blocking off the sea, then possibly another road to be built blocking off the north. Now that last connection is just my interpretation but it was glaring to me when looking at the map considering other reports.

Remember Biden's "Red Line"? It was Rafah.

The map draws the new roads in red, encircling what was once the city of Rafah.

Who knew over a year ago that this is what the "Red Line" would come to??

Actually, once the line was breached, it didn't take a genius to figure out this is EXACTLY what would happen. Enabled by lots of willful blindness and covert complicity!

But it was supposed to bring peace, and it didn't bring peace; it brought the opposite. But we're doing pretty well on Gaza."

Trump is too ignorant to know facts or history. Or care about justice, of course. He's knowingly spewing the right-wing Israeli line of how Israel "gave up" Gaza - which actually was never rightfully Israel's so the "giving up" claim is bullshit.

They gave up oceanfront property? Gaza was never part of Israel. The presence of 5,000 or illegal Jewish settlers in Gaza did not confer any "oceanfront" rights or rights to the land. It was an illegal occupation that ended.

While it lasted, and true to form, those settlers in Gaza, with the help of the IDF, took for themselves over a third of Gaza's territory. While Gaza's Palestinian population at the time of nearly two million (?) was squeezed into the remaining two-thirds.

Hideous settlers and their illegal colonies. Eff Israrel's expansionism on other peoples' lands.
