Pam Bondi Bails on CPAC Human Trafficking Summit Amid Epstein Uproar, Claiming 'Torn Cornea'

Attorney General Pam Bondi bailed on speaking at a human trafficking summit organized by the Conservative Political Action Conference Wednesday, sending a message that she was suffering from a “torn cornea.” The announcement that Bondi would be a featured speaker at CPAC’s “International Summit Against Human Trafficking” raised eyebrows — and outrage — Monday, as it came amidst a whirlwind of controversy bombarding President Donald Trump, Bondi, and other top White House officials regarding the Epstein files.

Trump has sought to downplay his friendship with deceased convicted sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell as his administration faces growing criticism over the failure to produce the “Epstein files” that Bondi and other cabinet appointees repeatedly promised. Trump has furiously denounced Epstein and claimed the two were never very close. Meanwhile, media reports have continued to unearth photos, videos, and witnesses who were around them years ago that paint a different picture.

The fallout from the Epstein files flop has emboldened Trump’s political opponents and reignited bitter internecine MAGA civil wars — messily playing out on social media and leading to calls for Trump to fire or demand the resignation of Bondi and other administration officials. Many of the calls for the release of the Epstein files are coming from other Republicans.

Shortly before Bondi was expected to speak, the event moderators read a statement with “some news from the attorney general’s office,” saying she had cancelled.

10. I had a series of corneal abrasions (something less than a laceration or tear) before I received a cornea transplant.

They were horrendously painful.

My optometrist had said for years that a transplant was the final option when all else failed. I finally reached the point that I told him to call the ophthalmologist to schedule the transplant or to simply remove the eye.

The recovery after the transplant was relatively easy and the results were great (20/20 vision).

I still have keratoconus in the other eye. My ophthalmologist thinks I need a transplant in that eye but the ophthalmologist in Houston he sent me to disagrees. I suspect it will have to be done at some point, but I'm in no hurry. I have no right to expect such a good result the next time and I see fine with no pain.

The conservative treatment is hard contacts. I still have a hard contact in the one eye. The problem is that hard contacts moving over the cone every time you blink can cause abrasions and tears.

How are corneal abrasions treated? In people who are in good general health, most typical corneal abrasions can heal on their own within 24 to 48 hours. A doctor may prescribe antibiotic eye drops or ointment. Because the cornea is so sensitive, simply opening and closing the eye over the abrasion may be painful.
