Elizabeth Warren Calls Out CBS Owner On His Own Network: 'One Man Named David Ellison'

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Friday stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on CBS and had no problem calling out Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, whose company recently acquired the very network she was appearing on.
The name drop came after Colbert thanked Warren for the honor of dressing her dog as him for Halloween this year. The senator noted that theres a reason she and her golden retriever Bailey had picked that particular costume.
Bailey and I talked about this, and we dont think one corporation, or one man named David Ellison, should be able to buy up all the shows and buy up all the sports and buy up all the news, and decide who watches what and who pays what, Warren said. Im gonna stay in that fight.
Ellisons company, Skydance Media, purchased Paramount Global in August in an $8.4 billion merger following the cancellation of Colberts show. The Federal Communications Commission approved the deal, and President Donald Trump publicly celebrated the coming end to The Late Show. Warren condemned the merger. Ellison has since been preparing a bid for Warner Bros. Discovery, which would include all of its cable networks and the world-renowned movie studio.

(4,954 posts)I love Discovery Plus especially the Food Channel, Expedition Unknown and HGTV. I don't want to have to give that up because of a tsf butt kisser, too.

(4,893 posts)Season two of Matlock.
But, because of the CBS/Colbert debacle, I am refusing. And I also cant watch the new Dexter spinoff that I had been waiting for since it was announced at Comicon over a year ago. That one really hurts. But, as things settle down, maybe I can watch it somewhere in the future.
Its a shame that excellent actors and their talent are the casualties of this.

(4,893 posts)Not sure if its offered on Britbox or Acorn, etc. I know that means more streaming services $$$, but the series originated in
Britain and they know how to do comedy.
Good on you for willing to stay strong.

(1,053 posts)These media conglomerates act like there will be no tomorrow.
That there will not be a President who is a trust buster.
Someone who will break up these huge corporations.
If Paramount Skydance buys WB Discovery, there not be much difference between CNN and CBS News.
I hope that it does not happen.
I do not wish that John Oliver's show have the same fate as Stephen Colbert.
Bill Maher, who I have not watched for years, would have no problem keeping his job.
Bari Weiss has appeared throughout the years on his show.

(466 posts)I wasn't aware he had moved from HBO to CNN. I used to enjoy his blend of left-leaning politics and humor in the 2000's. But he's changed for the worse. He's either trying to play both sides of the political street, or, he's going full on dementia, like the old man who screams at kids to get off his lawn.
During the episode that I accidentally saw, he went on this bizarre rant against socialism, wokeness, and single payer heathcare. It was like one of Dimwit Donnie's psycho-babble tirades. **CLICK**. I kept surfing. I'm done with him.

(4,893 posts)a richard cranium for quite some time. Yes, I think he tries to play both sides at once. He probably figures he will get approval of at least 50% of the audience at any one time.
