The Trump administration will not invite South Africa to take part in G20 events hosted in the United States next year and will “immediately” stop payments to the African nation, President Donald Trump said Wednesday,

“At my direction, South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year,” Trump said in a post on social media. “South Africa has demonstrated to the World they are not a country worthy of Membership anywhere, and we are going to stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.”

The exclusion of South Africa from the meetings of the world’s most important economies is an unprecedented step and would mark the first time a country was outright excluded from them in its more than 20-year history.

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa responded later Wednesday to what he called Trump’s “regrettable statement.” “South Africa is a sovereign constitutional democratic country and does not appreciate insults from another country about its worth in participating in global platforms,” the South African presidency said in a statement on X.

So Russia still sent a delegation to the meeting in South Africa this year (but Putin didn't go - like Xi and Trump)

But only the Trump regime threw a complete tantrum and didn't send a delegation at all. So, a country invading another and killing hundreds of thousands (when you take its own casualties into account) is fine by Trump, but ... Being Black on the world stage??? ... means South Africa should be expelled. Got it.

-Despite the U.S’s absence, South Africa successfully secured a full Leaders’ Declaration, something Trump believed would collapse without American participation. When the time came for the handover of the Presidency, South Africa conducted it in a diplomatic, low-key manner appropriate to the situation, and the handover did in fact occur. What Trump is now angry about is not that the handover did not happen, but that it did not take place with the pomp and senior-level recognition he expected after snubbing the summit.

It is this sequence of self-inflicted diplomatic embarrassments: refusing to attend, changing his mind too late, being ignored by other world leaders, and seeing South Africa deliver a successful summit without him, that has now produced Trump’s tantrum and the absurd suggestion that he has the power to uninvite South Africa from the G20.

And it emboldens them even further. The G20 was started by the USA, the BRICS however excludes the USA and we have no influence there.
