Second US Combat Plane Crashes Near Hormuz After Iran Shootdown: Report
Source: Newsweek
A second U.S. Air Force combat aircraft crashed Friday in the Persian Gulf region, with the lone pilot safely rescued, two U.S. officials told the New York Times.
The officials said the A‑10 Warthog went down near the Strait of Hormuz around the same time an F‑15E Strike Eagle was shot down over Iran, an incident in which one crew member was rescued and search teams are still looking for a second airman.
Department of Defense officials did not immediately return a message from Newsweek seeking additional details on Friday.

(1,844 posts)I used to watch them fly around McClellan AFB in Sacramento when they were in for service. Impressive.
Of course you could build a school for the price tag of one.
But
whats the Fun in that?
underpants
(197,014 posts)I knew of them but Id never (obviously) seen one. It was really low. Less than 250 feet Id guess. Slow too. Im guessing it was some sort of a training run. I remember we were in our tracks and out in the open. I told my Bradley Commander I could rip that thing apart. Of course it wasnt firing either so
..
A guy I went to high school with went to the Air Force academy and then flew A10s.
A-10s are remarkably agile. I've watched them at airshows and they are a trip.
