'I Am Sorry for Misleading People': Tucker Carlson Delivers Jaw-Dropping Mea Culpa for Endorsing Trump

Source: MEDIAite

Apr 21st, 2026, 6:47 am

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson apologized on Monday for campaigning for President Donald Trump, declaring that he would be “tormented” by the decision “for a long time” to come. During an interview with his brother Buckley Carlson – a Republican Party operative who previously wrote speeches for Trump – Carlson expressed regret for having publicly supported the president, who has repeatedly attacked him in recent months.

“You wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him. I mean, we’re implicated in this, for sure,” said Carlson to his brother on The Tucker Carlson Show. “It’s not enough to say, ‘Well I changed my mind,’ or like, ‘Oh this is bad, I’m out.’ It’s like in very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.”

“Yes,” Buckley replied. The former Fox News host continued, “So I do think it’s like a moment to wrestle with our own consciences. You know, we’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be, and I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people, and it was not intentional. That’s all I’ll say.”

Trump has repeatedly lashed out at Carlson in recent months in response to his former ally becoming increasingly critical of the Trump administration – most notably its handling of the Epstein files and the president’s war against Iran.

92. It's part of the Civil War going on in the Republican party
Tue Apr 21, 2026, 02:40 PM
Apr 21

Many Republicans including Tucker have spoken up about the horrors of war in Gaza and Lebanon. I have to hand it to Tucker for finally seeing the light. Tucker is extremely anti-war and very verbal about it with death threats he claims from Netanyahu actually calling him. Believe him or not, seems like he’s very into his Catholic faith and very upset about Israel & US murdering & starving children.

It’s a big Republican & Independent Civil war with many many Republicans now denouncing Trump & claiming death threats.

Denouncing Trump - MTG, Thomas Massie, Candace Owens, Dan Bilzarian, Joe Kent, Ian Carol, Dave Smith, Chris Russel, Saagar Enjeti , Alex Jones, Nick Fuentes, Carrie Prejean Boiler and hundreds more. Trump has most of the independent podcasters against him. Joe Rogan can be a jerk but he consistently has very anti war, anti Trump Independent/commedian Dave Smith on his show -

Many believe part of why Charlie Kirk was killed was because Charlie brought Dave Smith & Tucker to his big summer event and Tucker & Dave Smith were talking anti war & anti Trump policy to college kids at an event with huge Israeli donors.

Most Republicans on X, want the Independent Republican Massie to run for President. Trump despises Massie and is spending millions on his opponent- Almost No one on X ever posts they want Vance to run on the Republican ticket.

So Tucker and Candace are both now top podcasters in the world with Dave Smith climbing up. Between Tucker & Candace probably over 40 million people are being influenced - so better they both dislike Trump.

from Trump to Vance.

Trump's physical and mental decline are obvious. Trump himself has hinted at his own demise.

If Trump has received a fatal diagnosis-- or, if his backers, enablers, and handlers think that he is going to be removed -- they want to keep their RW voters and the MAGA agenda alive.

So, they denounce Trump as a MAGA traitor and position the fascist MAGA party as the true rescuers of America from "radical leftists."

This is how they try to overcome their lack of Trump's perverse charisma. Usually, when a cult leader dies, so does the cult. But his successors can claim that THEY are the true MAGAs so the cult should follow them and not dissolve.

Vance has very little charisma, and I can't see him denouncing Old Colostomy.

The red-hat movement can dominate a primary, but in many places, it's no longer big enough to carry a general election - and that's if it stays together. And it's not likely to stay together.

Whether this will lead to long-term positive change in the US remains to be seen, but in the short term, the movement/cult will fall apart once the windbag leading it is gone.

In early 1988, allegations of sexual impropriety with a prostitute arose against popular televangelist Jimmy Swaggart. Eventually, Swaggart confirmed the truth behind the allegations privately to the governing body of Assemblies of God (his denomination).

In defiance of the national executive presbytery’s decision that he refrain from preaching for one year, Swaggart took to the pulpit once more on May 22, 1988 at the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

In a stirring speech dubbed by Time magazine “the most dramatic sermon ever aired on television,” Swaggart publicly confessed his sinful behavior (as he described it) and apologized to everyone affected by it (family members, fellow Christians and worshippers, etc.).

I was working building a power plant north of baton rouge. Drove past his mansion twice a day.
Seems only the relationship (long term) with the hooker is reported, not the reason she ended it.
Taking money for sex would never come to light if not for swaggart pressuring her to let him " break in" her 13yr. Old daughter. This was reported on, including an interview on tv with the prostitute.
This part is always left out to rehabilitate his image.

IMO, he ought to.

Donald John has already wrecked millions of lives here in the US and hundreds of millions, if not billions of lives elsewhere on the planet. It will take generations, and in certain cases millennia, to mitigate the damage 45-47 has done.

Tuckums is lucky: he’s still well-off. He isn’t going to hurt that badly. The other millions can’t say the same.

I could say that it's too late for apologies, but he influences people on the right and it means Trump loses another layer of armor and that much closer to seeing his way out the door.

Once the republicans in congress no longer fear his influence over the voters it will be the final chapter in the rise and fall saga.

She wrote an open letter to Marjorie Taylor Green blasting the Congresswoman when she disavowed Trump.

“So… you’ve suddenly discovered that Donald Trump, the man you treated like a messiah, is not loyal and that the MAGA movement is not safe, not sane, and certainly not rooted in anything constitutional. And you’re shocked that he’s attacking you, endangering you, calling you a traitor. As if you didn’t know he had it in him. Puh-lease.

“Here’s the part you don’t get to skip:

“You helped create this monster. You fed it. You protected it. You celebrated it. And now that it’s finally turning on you, you want sympathy? Understanding? A moment of national concern?

“No. Absolutely not. NOPE.

“You don’t get to unleash political poison into the bloodstream of American politics and then act surprised when it reaches your own veins. You don’t get to cheer on Trump while he smears, threatens, and dehumanizes everyone in his way, and then clutch your fake pearls when he finally does it to you. You don’t get to empower a movement built on conspiracy, cruelty, and violence, and then cry foul when you become its latest target.”

And I will never forgive Carlson for the hate he spewed at Ukraine and the love he showed for Putin and Orban (He interviewed both). He can take his Orc loving ass and move it to Siberia for all I care.

Here's an excerpt from an article outlining Carlson's anti-Ukraine propaganda:

Tucker Carlson’s history of pro-Kremlin, anti-Ukraine propaganda

In 2019, Carlson exclaimed on air that he was, in fact, “root[ing] for Russia” in what was then a simmering conflict in Ukraine, before quickly backtracking when the comment drew immediate backlash. Carlson would eventually argue to his viewers that “we should probably take the side of Russia if we have to choose between Russia and Ukraine.”

Added on edit:

I should also mention that Carlson is viewed, at least but some whose analyses I respect, as a proxy channel for Putin:

https://america2.news/the-unraveling-of-donald-trump/

The Kremlin seems displeased with Trump's decision to attack Iran; regular proxy channels like Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones have denounced him in droves. Russia has also been supplying intelligence to Iran to assist with targeting U.S. military assets — fighting the United States military by proxy.
