Trump nominates new ICE director as detainee deaths in custody being investigated

President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he is nominating Lance Schroyer to become the next director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. "Lance has over 29 YEARS of Law Enforcement experience in Oklahoma," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Lance is a former Oklahoma State Trooper, and United States Marine."

If confirmed, Schroyer will replace acting ICE Director David Venturella.

Trump continued, saying Schroyer “LOVES the men and women of ICE.” “Importantly, Lance Schroyer has what it takes to DETAIN AND DEPORT Illegal Alien Criminals, including murders, rapists, and drug traffickers at a rate never seen before!” he wrote.

The announcement comes amid a new investigation by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general into detainee deaths at ICE facilities.

Has anyone heard of actual murderers, rapists, or drug traffickers being deportedf? I would think that would be big news. All I hear is news of families being torn apart, kids in prison, people whose sole crime is living here for 20 years and paying taxes. There is, however, a convicted rapist in the White House, who is the grandson of an immigrant, and has married two immigrants.

2. I wonder what that guy has done to be on his radar.

I see he is currently at Homeland Security, but he was just a state trooper in a red state, and also a former Marine. Hardly qualifications that would make you stand out for a top-level post to run a huge agency.

3. He is supposedly an adviser to Mullin (both are from OK)

so is already working in DHS. Apparently during his trooper days at the higher managerial levels, he worked in the state/fed program related to immigration stuff.

5. Trump heaps praise on every replacement of his

failed starters. Truth be told, he doesn’t know jack shit about any of them with the exception of his crooked assed personal lawyer, Todd Blanche.
