Trump's disastrous trade war is killing US tourism

According to a recently released report, the tourism industry is about to take a hit as travel from Canada to the United States is projected to experience a significant drop, thanks to President Donald Trump’s tariffs and other policies.

Tourism Economics has estimated that Canadian tourism to the United States will experience a 15% drop resulting from cost increases triggered by Trump and that travel from other key nations will also decline, with total international travel down 5%.

“Some organizations will feel pressure to avoid hosting events in the US, or sending employees to the US, cutting into business travel. Anecdotal evidence from Tourism Economics clients confirms a growing number of travel cancellations from Canada,” Tourism Economics notes.

The Canadian government has made clear that increased U.S. tariffs will lead to increased Canadian tariffs, despite Trump’s repeated assertions that other nations will acquiesce to his trade war.

...business and mom and pop types and workers this will affect but I do think it will yank the chains of national brands and the investment world to put pressure on Trump and the GOP in general. Trump can get away probably with ignoring it but GOP legislators looking at 2026 mid terms may not like this added to their other popularity deficiencies caused by Trump.

The government is spectacularly incompetent. Everything is falling apart. Armed gorillas are patrolling the streets rounding up anyone for any reason or no reason, the food sucks, the health care (or rather, the access to good health care) sucks, any tourist attractions people might have wanted to visit are rapidly losing their luster, we are criminalizing more and more things in order to feed the hungry maw of the private prison industry, every dickshit with a trigger finger and a grudge is packing high-powered weaponry everywhere, and if you don't speak English at a level that will satisfy some ass-scratching, dentally-challenged, hillbilly fuckwit, he'll curbstomp you.

I'm sorry, erstwhile tourists to the United States, you're better off travelling somewhere else. The U.S. needs to be closed, shuttered, and condemned. And unless we get some competent new management up in this place, it needs to be plowed under and salted, too.
