Two major NYC unions back Mamdani's general election bid for mayor

NEW YORK — Two major labor unions that backed Andrew Cuomo’s failed Democratic mayoral bid are set to endorse upstart democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani.
The Hotel and Gaming Trades Council and 32BJ SEIU, which represents building service workers in New York City, are intending to back the Democratic nominee as Cuomo ponders whether to run as an independent.

A third union, the New York State Nurses Association, also endorsed Mamdani; the group did not back a candidate in the Democratic primary.
The trio of unions has a combined 267,000 or so members in New York City and the surrounding region.
