Trump says the US will 'guide' stranded ships from the Strait of Hormuz, starting on Monday

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The United States will launch an effort on Monday to “guide” stranded ships from the Iran-gripped Strait of Hormuz, President Donald Trump said, as two ships around the strait reported attacks.

Trump gave few details about what could be a sweeping attempt to help hundreds of vessels and some 20,000 seafarers. Iran quickly denounced the move as a ceasefire violation.

Trump said in a social media post on Sunday that “neutral and innocent” countries have been affected by the Iran war, and “we have told these Countries that we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business.”

“Project Freedom” would begin on Monday morning in the Middle East, Trump said, adding that his representatives are having discussions with Iran that could lead to something “very positive for all.”

Absolutely, Mr. trump-- those goalposts can't move themselves. He'll spend a day or two word-salading out a few speeches about Absolute Victory over Iran. He'll turn that assignment in two weeks. That hits a 3 Billion Dollar Arleigh Burke destroyer, doing substantial damage, remember the USS Cole. Many were killed and the expensive warship was out of action for at least two years for repairs as I recall. This is a fool's mission and we have the biggest fool running the show. 18. If chaperoning ships through the Straight doesn't work . . .

- because it won't - Trump will announce Operation Airlift.

US Army helicopters will pick up the ships and fly them safely out of range of those pesky Iranian drones and gently put them down in safer waters.

When that doesn't work, he will move onto Operation Ketchup - which won't work either.

Perhaps Operation 'give up, play nice and apologize' is in order?
