The scenario: A 2nd bedroom, with a bed and desk, computer and monitor, a small desk lamp that's usually on, a little trash can with only used kleenex in it, and a front window that gets the morning sun, but has blackout drapes. No food storage, no food trash, no water tap, no bowl of fruit, no houseplants, far from the kitchen, down the hall from a bathroom.
And yet... I can walk in, sit down, turn on the computer and monitor, and within a few minutes a gnat is flying annoyingly between me and the screen, especially if I have a cup of coffee. So the question: Where has this bugger been hanging out for the last 24 hours waiting for my arrival? Sure, the lamp is a draw all night, I guess, but a gnat can't sustain itself on just desklight hanging out in this room without a food source, right?
Just one of those first world problems I wonder about.

(481 posts)For the past two weeks, I've been plagued by mosquitoes in my house.
When I sit at my desk, within minutes, there's at least one flying around me.
They are nasty. They bite multiple times in the same area.
The bug zapper has caught a few.
