My husband and I are retired (me a month ago). We live on social security augmented by small pensions.
We have considered Portugal, Ireland, Spain, and the south of France.
Are there any expats on the board who can advise us?

(18,460 posts)But do your due diligence first- healthcare, cost of living, taxes, political stability, environmental issues ( much of Spain is flooded right now), etc.
We came to Canada 12 years ago, and love it here, but if youre over 50, it can be tough to get a PR visa unless youre sponsored by an adult child or possibly a sibling.
Get a trustworthy immigration lawyer in your destination country who can help you navigate the system.

(3,799 posts)there was a tax advantage to moving there from here but I understand that is ending soon, housing prices there have skyrocketed, and it just isn't viable.
Thinking of Spain.
