(16,520 posts)I transcribed for one for three years. They are specially trained to get to the root of the problem. There are so many little bones in the wrists, I wonder if you may have fractured one. Sometimes xrays won't show fractures. You may need an MRI.
That's a great idea. Gosh, good luck. Experiencing that kind of pain blows.

(28,468 posts)you could try that if there is one where you live.
On the upside, I recently had to see an ortho because the wrist I broke 12 years ago began bothering me, only took 2 weeks for an appointment. That surprised me, it takes 3 months for my internist.
Intractable
(476 posts)It is unfortunate that sometimes injuries don't hurt until later. It can make it hard to understand the cause(s) since they occurred yesterday in a flurry of random events.
Try using a shower massager on the wrist with very warm to hot water for a few minutes daily for a while, even forever.
The only thing that heals the body is the body itself. To heal, you need energy and oxygenated blood flow. The shower massager can aid the blood and lymphatic flows through the area, and also reduce inflammation.
If it's joint pain, it may never get better. If it's tendons (likely), it'll be a few weeks. If it's muscle, just a few days.

Intractable
(476 posts)Loss of finger function can be caused by a pinching of the nerves in the neck that go down the arm.
Also, is your wrist compressed? Try loosening it by using the other hand to move it around the full range of motion.
Probably, there are multiple causes of your wrist problem.

(2,821 posts)It might be worth a call if you have something like that near you. My husband had a sad wrist and tingly fingers. He ended up with a brace and a few weeks later a steroid shot. It is better now but he still sleeps in the brace because he feels like it keeps him from over bending it in his sleep. Hes much better now. The best to you on finding an answer. Nagging pain is zero fun!
