Un Professore
I would think (probably know) that I am not alone in my constant state of anxiety bordering on trauma, given what is happening. Having arrived at my late 70's I erroneously thought I'd seen pretty much what evil was and how it manifested itself in politics and societies. But, as I underestimated my visceral reactions, I have enjoyed watching foreign tv programs. Being forced to read subtitles to understand what is happening is somewhat calming.
So, since I love almost all things Italian - the language, the food, the antiquities....I started watching an Italian tv program called Un Professore. It's about a high school philosophy professor in Rome, teaching some troubled, hard to reach kids, including his own son. He, too, is dealing with his own demons. So, he makes his content (Camus, Kant, Socrates, Plato, etc) a two way discussion which he often conducts outside the classroom.
Additionally for me at least, I love the theme song (which is extremely rare because so many foreign programs have inane American pop music as their themes). It's called Spazio Tempo and is essentially an existential look at what reality is and possibly how to approach it. You can google Spazio Tempo (space time) and watch a montage from season 1 during the song. The link I found has the lyrics in Italian, but there's an option to translate it.
I have no idea if I'm the only one who has benefitted from this opportunity to leave my reality and go to Rome via Leonardo Da Vinci High School, but I thought it might be worth mentioning in case there are a few others of you who'd like it too.
