Disgusting. Where are these kill pens and how do donkeys end up in them?

There's a big one in Texas, but they're all over the country, especially in the South. They're usually Amish horses and donkeys that have outlived their usefulness, have injuries or medical problems so they just get rid of them There's a ranch in Amarillo called Fletcher Farms that tries to rescue as many draft horses and donkeys as they can. They hold rescue fundraisers to acquire the horses and donkeys, nurse them back to health, and let them live out their retirement years in peace. The unlucky ones get shipped off to slaughter in Mexico. It's brutal.
