HELP! Is there anyone who knows how to

handle fraud claims? A 3rd party hacked into my Bank of America credit card and charged. $15,000.00. I am getting nowhere trying to deal with this myself.

Call BOA, the number should be on the back of the card. And start the complaint.

you to Lock your card online or in the app. It helps with future fraud charges. Also I would sign up for alerts so that you get a text from BofA when a charge is posted so you can lock it immediately if it wasn’t you that made the charge and call them.

If you report it to them as fraudulent activity, most credit card companies will temporarily credit your account for the fraudulent charges while they investigate. When they find that you didn't make those charges, the credit becomes permanent. Meanwhile, they'll retire your card, issue a new card number and send a new card. Has none of that happened?

We have had this happen several times over the years, although for much less money, and have never had to pay. If BOA doesn't help you resolve this, you should definitely find another credit card company,

Call bank fraud Dept

Cancel card

Freeze credit at all three agencies

Call home owners see if they have any protections

Call your life lock

Plus

Change passwords / log in info
( good idea to set up 2 factor authentication if you can )

If you don’t have already set up alerts for when your card(s) are used

File a police claim also.
Internet crime is hard but they try
It would also show the company that you are serious

Also if your state has a consumer help line in the gov office you can call them if you feel that a company is not helping. Also your Reps supposedly that’s what they do is help the “people” with a federal agency and sometimes if not getting help from a business when the should.

All should help in one form or another

Good luck

Unless Trump‘s taken it away, you still have the free annual credit report that allows you to see your credit accounts make sure you go to the legit free site

Pulled this from my state website.
“Order a free copy of your credit report from the only government-authorized website: www.annualcreditreport.com or call 877-322-8228. Other "free" credit report websites were designed to sell you products and services. You are allowed one report yearly from each of the three major participating bureaus”

Also you can set up with each of the three credit bureaus Transunion and Equifax have a free app. ( but I just use the website)
where you can create an account to go and check on things and lock/freeze your accounts
so far I haven’t been able to find a free site for experian that allows you to lock /freeze it? (sometimes it’s called freeze sometimes it’s called lock -
freezes is deeper, but with the new way is still as easy as the old lock on these sites where you just swipe left or right to lock or unlock it instantly.)
So I do pay for that sometimes some credit cards will do some of the same things like checking the dark web if your information is out there, etc.

They approved my fraud claim and then denied it again. They want more info. They need a copy of the fraud report from AT&T.

I can get that, I think.

But all their messing with my account has lowered my credit score over 100 points.

I will call the bureaus and have an explanation put on my accts.
