Thoughts on drinking "Cold Duck" during the Holidays.....45 years ago.

(1) Was that the best "grape-y champagne" you ever drank?
(2) Did you ever drink too much of it?
(3) Why haven't I had it in the past 40 years? Doesn't seem like it's really marketed.

Yes, I fondly remember cold duck, along with my mother drinking pink Champale on trips to the lake. I still remember sneaking drinks of that pink nectar when she wasn't looking, also circa '75ish. And does anyone remember Harvey's Bristol Cream, the popular sherry from that era? I remember all of those being heavily marketed around the holidays. In high school I graduated to Boone's Farm, MD 20/20, and gods help me, Schlitz Malt Liquor bull for a cheap drunk. Thanks for the memories!

Spent many drunk nights passed out between Camp Ellis and Pine Point on Saco Bay, part of the Gulf of Maine. Or could Canada rename it the Gulf of Canada? Why not?

Regardless, Boone's was a 3 month love affair.

I remember being 19-21 during Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was the drink of choice in my Family. All the adults liked it. So did I. I'd sneak an extra 3 or glasses, losing control - mortifying Mom and pissing off Dad. And I remember the god awful hang-overs and regrets that Cold Duck gave me.

they also had the gold shag carpet. I ruined a number of things at that house.

When I was young. Now you remind me, I have to wonder: What was it and where did it go?

On edit: And wikipedia answers the first question.

Boones Farm apple and Mateus (so classy -- it had a cork) were more my jam a few years later.

I'm getting a hangover just reading this. Remember Annie Greenspring's?
Or as we use to call it "Annie Bedsprings." I think the worst wine I ever tasted
was pineapple. I think it was an MD 20 20 or "Mad Dog" flavor.

I got violently ill on that as a college freshman circa 1983-84. I can hardly look at it to this day.

... it was something one drank towards the end of interminably long parties when the good stuff had all run out. I always laughed that they chose to market a wine with that name.
