We're watching "Wicked" (2:41) so you can ask me anything

I abhor musicals. This is truly a big grand production, I’ll give it that.

I think we are an hour into it.

My daughter and Mom wanted to watch it. Ariana is an old friend from the iCarly days.

1. I liked it, especially the visuals that gave a nod to "The Wizard of Oz"

However, I think the music is exceptionally weak, other than the song "Popular". I know that "Defying Gravity" is supposed to be an anthem but I just think it's screechy with rather mundane lyrics. When they mashed up the opening of the Oscars with material from both movies, the contrast was stark.

I actually saw "Wicked" in the theatre a couple of weeks before I saw the movie, and it was the same issue. It was so dependent on special effects and the score was underwhelming. I still liked it, though.

3. So overhyped, I am not looking forward to it--

I love the classical Oz series of books and have several collector's editions of some of them, but this just seems such a ripoff.

Sorry, fans, but I don't like the music either.

Maybe I will eventually get bored and watch it and perhaps change my mind...

7. It is on peacock so I will likely give in and watch it. I take your recommendation as a good omen.

and I do like Jeff Goldblum.

I guess I'm just overly protective of L. Frank Baum's original work.

And the one line: "It's easy to control people when you get them to hate," or something very similar hit the audience like a gut punch.

5. I agree. I'm catching the dancers. Very well done.

They just got to Emerald City. One of the armless dancers in the fountain can be seen in the next scene bent over looking like he’s gasping for air

Jeff Golblum?!?!?

9. Enjoy! I'll take a pass. Liked the book. The Broadway production was so so. Give me Margaret Hamilton any day!

I loved the movie and didn't want it to end. Thought the music was excellent, the scenery beautiful and the acting very good. Best of all was the story line. I believe there will be a follow up movie and I'm looking forward to it
