The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsFinally, SNL is new tonight. This year it's been off as much or more than on.
I don't know why it matters so much to me since about all I pay attention to are the cold open and the Weekend "news". Am not one who constantly claims that it all is downhill or that the original seasons were the best. I detested BELUSHI and many other "kewl" types over the years, and non-political sketches, musical spots, and re-runs are non-existent for me. Actually, except for the aforementioned bits, I don't actually *watch* the show, just have it on while doing the tablet thing. Skipped the 50th anniversary thing entirely, would have been more meaningful to me for them to have run a regular live show with a commemorative theme.
Just venting my arbitrary, personal opinion not to be taken as something serious to quarrel about. Yeah, if it's such a pain, why do I bother. I agree. Just take it as an announcement of the new show and let's forget the rest.

(10,007 posts)They put a ton of content on Peacock for the SNL50th. Much of it is amazing.

Fast forwarded a lot of it. I not a fan of the musical skits either.
I used to like Bobby Moynihan. There are so many cast members. I fast forward the intro too after the cold open. It takes so long to introduce them all.
After weekend update I bailed.

Besides the host, he's another one I had no clue about. Turns out he had been "disinvited" to SNL before, like how Shane GILLIS was fired before he started and then rehabilitated into returning. If only SNL would keep them gone.

.... In October 2020, he was disinvited to perform at SNL after he was seen partying and smooching several women as COVID-19 protocols were in place.
The following year, TMZ released a video of the Cowgirls crooner saying the N-word. In the clip, Wallen could be heard telling someone to take care of this py ass n-r.
The former Voice competitor issued an apology, saying he was embarrassed and sorry and used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back.
Wallen has also been arrested multiple times for driving under the influence, public intoxication and reckless endangerment.
