(20,581 posts)So in NYC in the Summertime has a mix of weather. Rain, yes, often in Thunderstorm fashion for the season (sometimes Spring w higher than average temps). Sometimes cloudy, or the other type is called "Hazy, Hot, and Humid" w/o any actual rain. Yuck!
OTOH we also get these glorious 80°F - 84°F, low humidity days of around 30% - 35% with deep blue skies, with, or without some clouds. My favorite summer weather! 🥰
Now, put me, and another NYC friend in early July '79 in Northern Arizona heading into the Navajo, and Hopi Nations by rented car. We've gone over, and beyond the mountains north of Flagstaff, into a lot of scrub, and then often pure desert sand, and rocky areas. There're a few feathery clouds in the sky, maaaaybe a very few tiny puffy ones (I definitely remember the the feathery cirrus ones). We stop at a grocery, and supply store.
"Wow, it's so humud today!", says our cash register person. "OH, what is it?" We ask. "30%", he replies. "Ah", we reply back.
I know while walking away, I had to suppress a giggle bc as you read above 30% humiidity on a NYC summer day is like heaven!
Of, course, for locals of that area in June it can get down to 17%, but can get up to 30%, or so in July. Since it was very early July the average might have trended closer to June's %.
I know for me it didn't feel humid at all! A real experience in relativity -
weather wise for me.
