A Day n the Life of Yogi Berra

During a rain delay at a Yankees Spring Training Game two streakers jumped over the Center Field Fence and slid into second base. Yankees Catcher Yogi Berra went home and told his wife. She asked if they were boys or girls. Yogi said I don’t know they had bags over their Heads.

1. After an interview for the "game of the Week" boyhood pal Joe Garagiola gave

Yogi a check for the appearance. The check was made out to "Bearer" (common back in those days). Yogi looked at it and said to Joe "Joe, you know me all my life and you still don't know my last name?"

2. Joe, he's named after the cartoon character!

So his last name is “Bear”!

Duh!

5. When you come to a fork in the road take it

Legend has it this was Yogi giving directions to his home. He lived in a culdesac in New Jersey, so his directions would be right. Or left.

6. I went to get a pizza and the guy asked me if I wanted it

in 6 slices or 8. I said 6, I don’t think I can eat 8.

7. One of his teammates invited him out to the bar after a game

He said, "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded."

At a neighborhood bar, just sit back and listen. Imagine the head scratching he is causing in heaven

11. In my younger years, I actually knew people like this and they would drive me CRAZY until I figured out that their

answers were real and not given to be cute or funny. Then I could enjoy them and their non sequiturs.
